Hi there drivers seem to be gone on my archaic pc downstairs can anyone give me a link to the correct drivers I need please.

I have done belarc advisor and I have the following

Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device
VIA AC'97 Audio Controller (WDM)
Vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo Driver (WDM)

I do hope someone can help me as my dad is getting very annoyed at no sound on the pc.

It says device can not start code 10 whatever that means but this is in the control panel bit then sounds and audio devices.

You are trying to make use of a chip on the mother board. Your BIOS will have a section permitting activation or disabling of the AC97 chip.
Make sure that the BIOS is set to make the sound chip active, [AUTO] or [ON] or something similar.

It's most likely a driver issue -
