Each of the stacks of letters below is a jumbled stack of 5-letter words. The first letter of each word is in column 1, the second letter of each word is in column 2 and so forth.

Your challenge is to unjumble the letters in each column to rebuild the original 5-letter list of words.

It took me a while but if you take one letter from each column in #1 you can get these words:

soot, I think your instructions should read: The first letter being in "column" 1, the second letter in "column" 2 and so forth.

manxman, the first letter of each word is taken from row 1, the second letter of each word is taken from row 2 and so on. All words read from row one to row five in that order.

Hi Jema, The last time it was 1st letter in row one etc. But I can't make words using that logic at all. I'll try the way you and manxman did it to see if I have any more luck.

Whew! At least my memory hasn't totally failed, because your memory about it is the same as mine. But I tried a couple that way and couldn't make it work. Whereas, column to column works for all of them.
