I have been nobly refraining from too many games in the last few months. I broke down this morning when I realized I was turning on the cooking channels. Casual games cannot be worse for the old brain than Cupcake Wars. It's not possible.

Therefore, what gems without any or at least without many HO screens have come out? If none, then which HOGs with excellent graphics also have engaging adventure and puzzle elements?

Believe it or not, there have been quite a few good casuals in the last few months. One of the best, IMO, was Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek. Aside from the awful voice acting of one of the characters, who's only on briefly thank heaven, it was really good. It's billed as an Adventure/HO.

WE just completed a favorites list you may to check out here. Scroll down to casual games.

I recommend Grim Tales: Legacy as a good long one with great puzzles.

Hi, 8dognight!

In addition to the recommendations you've already received, I just finished "Otherworld: Spring of Shadows". Not only was it an excellent game, but it took me over 7 hours to play the main game, and over 2 hours to play the bonus game.
