I'm having a problem in Luz where have to up the ladder after you put the crate in the elevator, I can't get Adam to go up the second ladder he gets almost to the top and keep falling off. I don't know if its glich or what but I could use a save or a sugestion on how to get past this part.

Thanks,
Marie

Hi Marie,

I moved your post from the walkthrough thread and created a new one for you, where more folks are likely to read it. smile

Let's wait for advice from those who've already played the game.

Marie,

There is no saved game for this game, as you noted while playing there are only checkpoints.
You can not go back to an earlier checkpoint - just the last one and can replay from there.

Since I finished the game, my checkpoint will be the last one.

As for the ladder to second floor - note that the next ladder is to the back and left of that landing.
So climb up, then move left and then up to third floor.
It might just be keyboard arrow adjustment that is needed.
Good luck.

I am stuck at the same spot. Adam can reach the 2nd ladder, and climb it, but instead of getting on to the landing at the top, he jumps back down to the landing below.

I've tried lots of combinations to get up that last step to the landing at the top of the ladder, but nothing works. Pretty aggravating, especially since I'm already having to use a clunky old PS2 keyboard just to play at all, because my USB keyboards won't run and jump forward.

If I'm just not doing it the right way, it would sure help if somebody could elaborate a little on the finer points of getting to the top of this particular ladder. Thanks.

I don't remember having any trouble getting to the top of the ladder, so I don't have any helpful suggestions, unfortuantely. frown

Just checking -- have you pulled the lever that raises the elevator with the crate on it to the second floor? Maybe go back and see if you need to have more conversation with the other two characters, or try knocking on the door?

As soon as you're at top of the ladder - pick up-click on the book on the left. That should get him on the top of the bookcase and on the left.

@Becky, Good suggestions, but I had unfortunately tried all of them already. Thanks for responding so quickly though!

@MaG, I had no problem in the library, the problem occurs in Luz when we (with the postman) drop the crate off at the proffessor's, and he wants us to put it on the roof.

The Good News Is - I got to looking closely, and noticed the curved parts at the top of the second ladder were just a little bit (a few pixels, max) taller than the first, and the way he jumped off the ladder was identical to what happens when you let up on the "up" key a bit too soon, so I got to thinking maybe it's a rounding type math error in the program. As soon as I tried a different resolution, Presto! it's like any other ladder. Fullscreen or windowed, it worked fine. Switching back to a 16:9 resolution of any size and the problem reappears. At an 8:5, or 5:4 or 4:3 it's fine. So I'll play at 1680x1050 instead of the native 1920x1080. The framerate is a little better anyway...

My video card is a Leadtek (sp?) 7600GT with 256meg-o-ram, and I'm running 2 monitors with it, a 1920x1080 digitally, and a 1680x1050 in analog.

Gotta box to move now. Thanks for the assistance!

Cwky -- you are a lot more observant than I am! That's great that changing the resolution solved the problem. yay
