I paid Tim Shafer beforehand because, among other things, I trust him not to hand me a game where the creator has used the cheap, comic book cop-out otherwise known as a "graphic novel look and feel". I don't trust Jane Jensen not to do that. She's a fine writer but she doesn't show a lot of discernment in how her games are presented, from that pathetic ham that played Gabe in GK2, to the horrible 3D in GK3 and the awful comic book graphics interspersed in Grey Matter. I realize a lot of people don't care what the game looks like if it comes from Ms. Jensen, in fact I may be out in the field alone, but if I'm going to spend hours staring at a screen and playing a game, I want to look at something I can stomach and the two games she's offering that show the most promise of being chosen aren't telling me that her discernment has gotten any better.
Gil.
She's posted more details on the stories & styles of GM2 and Moebius on the KS page. But, I'll again refer to that Gamespot interview, where she says one reason for doing this, starting her own studio, is wanting more direct control on the games as they're made and put together, citing GM's end result as a primary example. But I can only imagine back in the day at Sierra, there were general movements to make games in the style that was popular at the time, be it FMV or 3D, and sadly we all know how bad early 3D stuff looked. I know I'm biased, but I think of it as a chance for the great stories to be told in the way the author wants them told at last.

Isn't Gabe supposed to be a sort of ham?:) And besides, I personally liked both GK2's actros (with what adventure can you even compare this game to?!), and GK3's graphics, although I admit, it was far from perfect. However, it allowed a very intimate interaction with the game. But most of all - I gave her my money because she is the brain of my most beloved games (with the Mysts, as hard as it is to compare, right next to them)
I just wish enough people open up their hearts and wallets!

You are tough! Do you like green eggs with that ham? Oh, jeez, I hate to admit this but I've never read Dr. Seuss. I've seen the Grinch, though, and I'll take him over a wimpy Who any day. Err, which photorealistic game designed by Tim Schafer are you basing your opinions on? Hm? I said I trust Tim not to give me a game with lousy comic book graphics, nothing about photorealism. A new Jane Jensen adventure? A good idea called "Community Supported Games"? Yes, Yes, Yes!!! Please count Liz Allaire and me in (though she's got no credit card, so I'll back in her name).
Even if the Moebius and Gray Matter 2 projects are quite appealing, I'll vote for the Anglophile Adventure... Long live Jane Austen & Jensen!

Great to see that the pledges keep going up. All of the descriptions of the games she is proposing sound so good, I don't know which one to vote for. It sounds like she is really listening to feedback from fans with the old style choice between two difficulties and the option for getting a big box with all games on DVD. (Wish I could afford that one. ) Yes, I would like a new Gabriel Knight, but I would be happy with any new game Jane puts out. Much like reading a book by one's favorite author. Yes, some games may be better than others, but they are all good, quality games. Personally I liked the GK sequels better than the original, especially the second one. The stories in those games stood out for me more, which is not saying a lot, since they were all outstanding. And while Gray Matter was my least favorite of her games, it was still better than most games I've played. If this is her "worst" game, I'd say she's doing pretty well. Josue, Anglophile Adventure does sound good, doesn't it? It would be something different, and I love period pieces. I may end up voting for that one. But then I read the description for Gray Matter 2 and the one for Moebius, and I get confused again.

I'm already supporting 4 games on Kickstarter. It is addicting, isn't it?

The 50$ Prize is much more tempting anyway :-)

I don't really see where tne next Gabriel Knight story could go, unless it was like an Indiana Jones Crystal Skull type alien origins story? Once the saga went down the road of Christ bloodline to me it became a finale which would be hard to come back from with another adventure which would kind of seem trivial in comparison. It's also a big risk to rejuvenate old characters, it might end up being disappointing like so many movie sequels and remakes end up. Tim Curry was so memorable as the voice of Gabe, what if he wasn't involved in a new story - disaster!
