Hi smile

After I R Click on an empty bit of Desktop screen, I choose Screensaver from the options and then scroll down through my list of screensavers to make a selection.

Once made, I can click on "preview and that works OK but the screensaver proper never kicks in to take over the screen woozy

[It should kick in after two minutes.]

I'm running WinXP Home.

Can anyone offer help, please ??

Cheers.

Hi Jenny100 - And thanks for responding so quickly smile

I've checked out my programmes that run at start-up but don't appear to have any of those that are mentioned in the link you gave as possibly causing problems.

Nor do I use a cordless mouse.

And the only thing that has been changed recently is the adjusting of settings on my router to allow me to use WiFi stuff.

I've never bothered with any WiFi gadjets and so never bothered with the wireless settings of my Router - but I was recently gifted an iPad and so yesterday my Son in Law came round and dealt with the Router settings for me.

But would that affect screensavers on my PC ??

Cheers.

If you installed anything at all recently, you can try a system restore.

Is your PC directly attached to your router or are you using a wireless connection? Did that change when you made the WiFi change?

Hi InlandAZ smile

I've always had a cable connection between my PC and Router and that is still the case.

[I don't want to try a system restore because I'm not sure what I might lose eek]

Thanks for looking at my quandary !!

Cheers.

Mad,

When you do a system restore, Windows tells you what programs, if any, might have to be reinstalled or might not work properly afterward. And a system restore can always be reversed as long as you don't do it in Safe Mode.

Mad, don't hold me to this, but preview just gives you a view of what the screen saver will look like. I believe you have to "Apply" the screen saver before it will work.

Well, I have no idea why, but all my screensavers were working again this morning !!

I didn't do anything different at all.
Just booted up. Checked them out. And found they all worked yay

But thanks, anyway, to all who responded. It's so good to know there's help here if help's needed yes

There was a joke going around some time ago with one of the items saying that 99% of computer problems are solved with a reboot!

Hi Draclvr smile

Booting up again is usually one of the first things I try if my computer appears to be misbehaving - and after I discovered that screensaver weirdness, I must have rebooted 5 or 6 times.

Didn't cure anything though !!

And then I boot up today and all is normal again rolleyes

Cheers.
