Since someone mentioned being committed to the mental hosp in Asylum, could it be said that doctor's house/lab in Gray Matter is sort of a small hospital (believe me, they exist, I've seen a few back in the early 1970's, called "Doctor's Hospital") where the doc accepts new patients and whatever happens in GM?

Can anyone think of games where you're committed to either a psych ward or a mental hospital?

I can think of a few games that feature such places, but playing as a visitor rather than as a patient:

Blackstone Chronicles
Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened
Black Mirror
Miskatonic

That's just off the top of my head. I'll add to it if I can recall any more.

Edit: Forgot the most obvious one! Sanitarium. You do play the patient in that game.

Several casual games have the plot of escaping one.

Edna & Harvey: The Breakout
Darkness Within -- both games had asylums, though I think you were a patient in only one of them
Runaway 3 -- I haven't played this one, but I remember reading about the hero breaking out of one
Memento Mori (I THINK the hospital near the end was an asylum)
Amber's Blood (in this one you aren't committed but visit abandoned asylums)

Which Black Mirror - 1, 2, or 3?

I have all 3 Black Mirrors, plus Overclocked. Do you play as a patient or visitor to psych ward in Black Mirror? I know you play (you switch back & forth) as the psychiatrist and the patients in Overclocked, and the ending sequence shows

these patients that you played as living (or had lived) as residents in a halfway (group) home, playing a computer game and then they believe the game, think it's real, and then they go out and do stuff, then they get caught & land on psych ward for "acting out" so the doc has to destroy the computers by putting tape over the vents to make them overheat

Black Mirror 1. The sanitarium where Robert worked. You play as Samuel, visiting to find out more info on Robert and James.

So, is Robert a doctor? I thought he was a medical student, deep in his studies (reason he stays in his room all the time)?

If he is a doctor, what kind of doctor is he? What does he do at the mental hosp? What chapter is this in - 4, 5, or 6?

Wasn't there one Nina visited at one point in Secret Files: Tunguska?

I think that's right, venus. I am surprised at how common the location seems to be!

Sanitarium really creeped me out. That game gave me nightmares.

Yes. I think Max had to help her escape that room (described below, IMMHO)

As far as I recall from the last time I played Tunguska, there was a room, much like your garden variety mental hosp. seclusion room, that Nina was in (but can't recall if she was locked in that room or not) that featured a bare mattress (again, like your normal state mental hospital seclusion room staff do it when they have to lock up a violent patient) on the floor, a bowl (for feeding the patient?), a hole in the floor (for the patient to do their "business" in since the hosp.

policy says anyone getting locked up is considered too dangerous to be trusted when a human comes in with tray of food/regular bathroom stuff, maybe?) which served as the sewer for that room and I believe there was a rat in that room that Nina had to use in order to help her get out of that room, if I'm not mistaken.
Does anyone recall how Nina got into that room in the first place? Did somebody commit her, she tried to resist, the doc pronounced her as dangerous, thus she got in that room?

Does Midnight Nowhere ring any bells ? I seem to remember waking up in a eerie room. A good game also if I recall.
