Becky, I would have been happy voting for any of them. grin I just voted for Anglophile because it sounded the most unique for an adventure game, but I don't have a favorite of the three. Which one did you vote for? Or do you not want to say? smile

Tomer, Moebius is a great choice. Like I stated, I really have no preference. I just felt I had to vote for something since I had the opportunity. Really, if there was an "all three" option, I would have voted for that one. grin

I'm curious to see the Gray Matter story continued, so that was my choice. I agree that Anglophile looks tasty and is something a bit different -- a young woman who disguises herself in THAT way? Unique! lol

(Well, unique in a game. In the professional world, it's not unusual for a young woman to purposely look more "dowdy" than glamorous in order to be taken seriously -- the same way a very young-looking man might grow a beard to look older for a career as a lawyer or psychologist, for example.)

I wonder if Kickstarter means that developers spend a lot more time interacting with the customers/backers/gamers (via updates), rather than they traditionally would with the publishers. I don't know what the implications of that are longterm.

The whole situation is quite intriguing.

There is a thread on Jane Jensen and the Kickstarter campaign but thought I'd make a new thread as the deadline for the voting that relates to her games is almost up.

I think the voting ends Sunday and is only open to all who make a pledge on the Kickstarter campaign. You also get to see the results of the vote so far after doing so and my lips are sealed, youll have to make the pledge and make the vote to find out!

Becky, I would also like to see Gray Matter continued. This decision was just too hard. lol

I do notice that Jane is commenting a lot on her Kickstarter page, so maybe there is something to there being more opportunity for interaction on the part of the developer. I wasn't crazy about the Kickstarter idea at first, but I have to admit, it does seem to be an avenue that will give Jane more freedom than she has perhaps had working for other studios. Which makes me very happy that we will see a game (or hopefully two or three) based on a vision of something she really wants to make.

Now I just hope we are able to get enough pledges!! smile

My vote went for Moebius--I love the concept, and the concept art! Malachi Rector is my new adventure game crush. smile

Just what may seem a silly comment. I went onto the Pledge page but then realised that I would have to give credit card details to Amazon now, not when the money is actually due (unless I've read it wrong). I'm not very comfortable with that, wouldn't be so bad if there was a Paypal option, I'm much more comfortable with that frankly and rarely will give my actual card details over the Net.

Sounds like this isn't something anyone else is bothered about though! So...maybe I'm being paranoid!

Yes, they need your info now otherwise people may skip out on the pledge when it actually comes due. I use Amazon all the time and have never had an issue.

I use Amazon a lot too, and have never had any problems. I bought an Indie game the other day from an online store (I think it was BMT Micro) and they allowed me to use my Amazon account to pay for it.

I don't know if Amazon is aiming to become an alternative to Paypal, but that's how it's looking to me.

Another thing about Amazon Payments - Kickstarter will authorize your credit card now, but won't actually charge you until May 19, as long as the $300k goal is met. If the goal is not met you pay nothing and since the card was never charged, they don't have to issue a refund.

With PayPal, the funds are taken out of your account right away, meaning that money would have to be returned to people if the funding goal were not met. It's just too messy. But, Jane has stated that once the $300k goal is met (so she knows the Kickstarter funding will come through!), she will set up an alternate way for people to donate via PayPal who want to.

Also - Moebius won! laugh
