I have read the reviews and still not sure if it's action or adventure so if anyone is playing, I would love the feedback. thanks

Quote:
Telltale Games today released an all-new trailer focusing in on the story of ‘A New Day,’ the first episode of The Walking Dead games series based on Robert Kirkman’s Eisner Award-winning comic book series.

Players will be able to experience the first episode of the summer-long adventure horror series, which arrived today* for download on PlayStation®Network, PC and Mac, and will release very soon on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360.

Episode one, ‘A New Day’ and the following four episodes deliver an experience tailored by the decisions that each player makes, leading to multiple paths through the story. Players take on the role of Lee Everett, a man convicted of murder, now given newfound freedom and a chance at redemption in a world devastated by the undead. Intense life or death situations will force the player to explore the darker sides of human nature, and they will meet familiar characters and visit locations from the world created by Robert Kirkman, foreshadowing the story of Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead comics. The first episode will sell for 400 Microsoft® Points on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, $4.99 on PlayStation Network and on PC and Mac as a season pass covering all five episodes for $24.99 from the Telltale Online Store and other digital distribution outlets.

You can purchase the game for PC or Mac via TellTale Online Store and via Valve’s Steam service, as well as other digital distribution services.

Telltale plans to release The Walking Dead for Apple’s iOS platform later this summer.

The Walking Dead is rated ‘M’ (Mature) for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence and Strong Language by the ESRB.

For more information on the game, visit the official website , FaceBook and follow us on Twitter . For more information on The Walking Dead comic books, visit www.Skybound.com .

Happy Gaming!

Telltale is having issues with their server, so a lot of people haven't even gotten the game yet, me included. I'll let you know the second I'm able to access it!

I just want to clarify that I'm not angry with TTG's. Poop happens. There's a whole slew of people on the TTG's forums who are up in arms over this, but I am certainly not one of them.

I didn't interpret it as complaining, just stating the facts. I appreciate the headsup and look forward to your thoughts.

Simple solution: what if Telltale relocates their offices to New Zealand? Then they'd be up every day in advance of the rest of us. All the problems on game launch days would be ironed out before we even start our breakfasts!

Sometimes the simple solution is the best. laugh

I love the way you think outside the box. It works beautifully for everything but cats.

You're right, too risky otherwise. This is a zombie cat, in denial when it comes to the box. cat

Getting cats back in the box could be child's play compared to the other challenges. zombie

Just started playing the game don't know if I like it or not. You use the key board to control the prisoner. I got into the house. It's a action and adventure. More action than adventure. Pretty dark.

I just finished watching a 13 minute video of the game and the guy said that each episode will only be 2 hours long.

Just finished the game what a great game. About 4 hrs I guess. Can't wait for the next one. Not that much action. A lot of adventure. It took me a few minutes to get the hang on the controls. Well worth the money. There is nothing that I disliked about the game.

The game is finally out, you guys can bump it to the released section of the page smile I haven't had much of a chance to play it yet, but so far, it's not typical point and click.

Thanks Kjos, so glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks Gypsy, I'll edit the title. Let us know what you think when you get a chance to play it.

Kjos -- you said this game was more action than adventure early in the thread, then later that it's a lot of adventure. grin Would you consider this game to be a Dark Side game or an adventure game?

How does the action compare to, for instance, Dreamfall or Broken Sword 3?

It isn't high on the action, and certainly more adventure than not. There is a bit of keyboard pecking and some actions have to be completed in a certain timeframe but its fairly straight forward. There is almost no running away or fighting in real time, and action players would scoff if you defined it that way.
Its story and characterisation are its high points. Just over 2 hours saw it through, and I was engaged right through. Sets things up nicely.

Another one of those borderline genre cases.

What would you think of moving it back and then waiting for more input (I think we'll get more input in Adventure Dicussion).

I think it's a lot more adventure than action. From what I remember you get a second and a third chance in the fighting.

Admittedly, I'm a hardcase. If it has any more action than that goat puzzle in BS 1, it's not an adventure game. grin

Move it back I say - its an adventure game with some action a la Dreamfall, Hitchcock etc.
And if you die, you just get to try again.
