Does anyone have any of the Mortimer games on disk that they would like to part with? I lost all my MB games when my computer died and I had to get a new one.

Why can't you reinstall the games?

Because I don't have disks for the downloadable stuff and haven't been able to move them from the old to the new. Big Fish was the only one. I am trying to work with Still Life 2 to get that one on the new machine but I bought it so long ago that the information they're asking me for (receipt number, how I paid for the game, etc.) was so long ago I don't have the info any longer. Anyway, if anyone has either the latest and Still Life 2 I would be happy to hear of it. Otherwise I'll have to try and rebuy. The Mortimer game is available, but I'm not sure about SL2. Anyway I will keep looking.

If you purchased them from a download site you can re-download them. Spintop, BigFish, Gamehouse etc, all let you redownload the games. Where did you buy the Mortimer's from?

Got Stll Life 2 from Microids but they want information from me that I don't have any more. Also tried to move Mortimer from my old computer to the new but no success. All I know to do is re-buy any that I want. Also had all three Casebooks which I guess I've also lost.

My latest problem is with Dead Mountaineers Hotel. It pops up on my old computer but when I go to Steam on my new computer it doesn't recognize me. I'm really getting frustrated with the whole mess. I finally re-bought Still Life 2 so I'll have a disk for the future.

Adorable, I still do not understand why you can't get them back on your computer if you originally bought them.

Where did you originally obtain them from? Did you download them or install off a disk?

I have been trying all day to get Steam to give me Dead Mountaineers Hotel but couldn't get it. Are there any CD copies of it or was it all downloaded? It came up just fine on my old computer so I tried to bring it over to the new but no soap. I am also trying to get my Casebook games (all three) but I haven't really tackled that yet and all of the Mortimer Beckett games except the newest one which I will purchase (with a CD, I hope).

Adorable,

Please post the games you want to transfer to your new computer + whether you bought as download or you have the disk + the place you bought the download from.

if you list them, we will do it one game at a time .

Right now we're confused as what - where and how. lol

Adorable --

For the Steam games, you have to install the Steam Client on your new computer and then log in using your password. Once you're logged in, look for "Games" -- a tiny (why do they make it tiny? Because that makes it hard!) printed word on the top left of the screen. Click on it and it will list your games. You should be able to install Dead Mountaineer's Hotel from there.

I don't believe there were disk copies of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel in English -- I believe Steam is the only place to get it in English.

MaG, I appreciate what you're telling me, but the Casebook series and the Mortimer games have been on my old computer for at least five years. I presume the Casebook series came from Gamersgate. At this point I don't even remember where I got the Mortimer games. Spintop??? or Gamehouse?? Or neither. Thanks for trying to help though. I appreciate it a lot, and Becky, I'll give Steam another try since I have all the information as to my account but I've tried to pull up my games (Dead Mountaineers is the only one I bought and they don't show that I own it.

Adorable -- if you're looking under your Account Details, it will show you that you purchased the game, but doesn't provide a link for installing it.

If you go to the website by typing in the web address and then log in, I don't THINK there's any way to get to the "Games" menu with the installation program.

You have to actually click on the Steam icon on your desktop, log in that way, and then look for "Games" in the top left hand corner.

The system was clearly designed by a Geek for other Geeks. devil

I agree with that. Steam won't recognize my login even though I printed it out and stored it away. Then there's something about a secondary(?) login of some sort which I also don't understand. I've asked for help and I can't even figure out those directions. Do you know of any other place where I might buy the game besides Steam? I'm just fed up with trying to get it from Steam.

Thanks, I just downloaded the demos of the last two games. I didn't own the Crimson ?? yet anyway and I will probably buy them both at the same time. I also know where I can get Casebook now and I think a disk so that I don't go through this the next time I buy a computer. Many thanks for all your help.
