Today I purchased the game Amber's Blood, A Carol Reed Mystery from The Adventure Shop. However I can't get the game to download for me. I am using their download feature, the same one I always use when purchasing games from them. I recently bought Julia and had no problems what so ever. But this game just won't download for me. I get a message saying,
Overflow, tried 3x check your internet connection. I have shut down my computer twice now and tried again. I keep getting the same message. I have no idea what is going on. I have e-mailed The Adventure Shop but was hoping someone here may be able to help me out with this issue. I did download a game from Big Fish without any problems later today. I have never experienced this before and would love to be able to play my new game....any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It's probably a problem on their end. It sounds like you did everything right. I think you'll just have to wait until they fix whatever's broken.

I haven't heard anything back from The Adventure Shop as yet but I was wondering if any else has had a similar issue trying to download a game from their site...I tried again today and got the same message. It says, after 3 failed attempts please now check you internet connections and try again. Did that and got the same message again. Also it says in front of the name of the game...Overflow Amber's Blood... I have never heard of an overflow when trying to download a game. Just asking if anyone knows what may be happening here. I of course will keep in touch with The Adventure Shop. I have downloaded several games from their site and never had any problems until now. Thank you.

I could use some direction if possible. I just can't get my game from The Adventure Shop to install for me. They e-mailed me and told me if I am having a problem with their downloader(which I am)then to manually download the game. I have tried that and it is asking for a disk. I have tried to follow their directions for a manual download but it just isn't working for me. I admit computer savy I am not, but I can usually download a game. What I don't understand either is why their downloader doesn't work. It just keeps saying,
Overflow, Amber's Blood, check internet connections after 3 failed attempts. As for the manual download I need some simple explanation on how to do this so it doesn't ask for a disk. Any help greatly appreciated! I download using their downloader on a regular basis so all of this has me stumped!

I don't know if this will help you but it is worth a try, try cleaning out your Cache from your browser whether it be IE or Firefox or....

Good luck

Do you mean it's asking for a disc when you try to download? Or when you try to run the game after downloading?

Make sure you don't try to run the game before all the download files have downloaded. If you're left-clicking, the game may try to run, and of course it will time out before the download is finished and spit out some sort of error. Right-clicking the download link and choosing "Save As" may work better, depending on how Adventure Shop has their links set up.

Is there more than one file in the download? If yes, be sure to download them all to the same location.

It might be something to do with your router -- or with your modem if you have a DSL modem with a built-in firewall. ***Arukia at the Steam forum*** seems to have had a similar problem with Steam, and fixed it by changing his router to normal mode instead of gaming mode.

And as Starcom says, cleaning out your cache (Internet cache and any temporary files) might help if you're short on space.

Thanks for all the info...I am not sure now what I have done and not done. Been trying to download for some time. I will try a couple of things again and try to get proper details of what I actually do...thank you. I do have a question about the Big Fish site. I downloaded a game from them without any problems what so ever...so why can't I get my download from The Adventure Shop then...if someone has the time could you post a step by step of how I do a manual download...the instructions on The Adventure Shop site are only confusing me. I made a new file and gave it a name but that was as far as I managed to get. For some reason I couldn't get the manual instructiions to make sense to me. Also one more thing I just thought of...my husband has a lap top that he normally uses in a wireless mode. However he has now connected his laptop computer to my desk top computers internet modem system. Could this be causing a problem? However as I said I have no problem with the Big Fish game site downloading for me...so sorry to keep posting but I am really frustrated. Thank you for any help at all.

Big Fish uses a completely different installation process from Adventure Shop. With Big Fish, the only thing you manually download is a tiny file that invokes the Big Fish Game Manager, which handles all the downloading and installing.

If you found instructions for a manual install at Adventure Shop, please include the link. The only instructions I found with a search are for ***using the downloader***, which you said didn't work.

If Adventure Shop emailed you instructions for a manual download, please copy/paste them here. It's been a long time since I downloaded one of their games.

I assume you mean a new folder. You're not supposed to create a new file or rename the files you downloaded. They specifically tell you not to rename files ***here***

If your modem looks similar to this

and has multiple ports for plugging ethernet cables into it, then no, your husband's computer shouldn't affect your downloads at all.

Hi again, no we do have multiple ports. Also I didn't make new files, sorry my wording is wrong, I made a new folder and gave it a name so I could use that folder for my game. I am not sure how to copy/paste. So sorry I just am not great with computers. I have done a manual download from The Adventure Shop but it was a long time ago and for some reason this time I just can't get it right.

No you don't or Yes you do?
If you don't have multiple ports, how is his laptop wired to the modem?

Hi Linda-
I just bought and downloaded a game from the Adventure Shop today and had no problem-(I didn't buy Ambers Blood though)- check your email or spam folder. You should have gotten an email from TAS similar to the one below, with a manual link to the game file(s). Just click on those file(s) and select 'save' or 'save as' to the folder you created. Then you can d/click on the setup.exe file to start the installation. Good luck

High-speed download (our download manager must be installed):
High-speed download file

OR

Manual download (if you do not want to use our download manager). Save the following files in the same folder:
links to game files

Once all the files are downloaded in the same folder, install your game by double clicking on the .exe file and follow the installation process.

You will be asked for the following keys during installation or to activate extra content:

Hi all, well I tried again this a.m. and still no go getting my game. I can't use their downloader, it just keeps saying failed attempted, overflow. Never had that happen on their site before. As for the manual download I just can't get it right for some reason. If I had someone actually show me then I would be alright but trying to understand exactly how to save the files in the folder etc. is eluding me for some reason. I have made a desktop new folder with the name of the game but that is as far as I get....I guess I will just have to give up on this one. Also The Adventure Shop isn't responding to my e-mails. frown
I feel so silly as I have downloaded from their site many times so I don't know what is wrong with me this time around. (blush, blush) Well, I have no idea how I did it but I installed my game...thank you for all your help. However I still don't understand why The Adventure Shop downloader wouldn't work for me....thank you again.

Create a folder in My Documents and then right click the files one at a time, or in a group if you have the bandwidth, and select Save Target As from the context menu. Point the save location to the folder you created.

Once completed, just click the setup program.
