Hi everyone. I'm deep into Morrowind again but already looking around for what I'll play after I'm finished with this go-around. I happened to find stuff about Dragon Age 1 and 2 and I did play part of 1, but I think at the time I was still obsessed with Oblivion, and when it wasn't quite like that, I gave it up. Now I'm wondering if Dragon Age and the 2nd one might be worth a real try, and so I thought I'd get in touch with you guys before I buy them. Love to hear your thoughts---thanks so much! Tracy

I've played both of them and they are not fresh in my mind but I did enjoy both of them. They are more similar in playing style to the Balders Gate type games as I remember where you control a party of 2 or three members.
I'm pretty sure that there were members playing DA2 fairly recently so you might try a search to get some other opinions.
I'm playing Kingdoms of Amalur the Reckoning right now and the play style is fairly similar to the Elder Scrolls games so you might want to check that out.

Tracy, I played both, DA 2 before 1. Some people say DA 1 is better but now it looks to me as an older game with older graphics, this is a reality anyway. Graphic quality is important to me and I enjoyed the DA 2 a lot more.
People who like RPGs are very unlikely to be disappointed with this game.
You could check some of the WTs with video to have an idea of the game play.

Thanks so much MCC. That's a great idea and I'm going to check out some videos and get a good taste of how the game looks and plays. I'm kind of like you in that I love modern graphics, but on the other hand, I still love Morrowind's graphics and they're 10 years old. lol Anyway, off to look around and thanks again for your help. Tracy

I would recommend Dragon Age: Origins, since it's a great game that I've enjoyed many hours playing despite 1 thing that made no sense You won't get any helmet for the dragon armor I still have the game installed and waiting for another go But one thing to point out, get the Ultimate Edition of Dragon Age: Origins (contains all the dlc contents and the Awakening expansion for one price) As for Dragon Age II..... Lets just say that I agree with those that hated the game. One thing that you don't get to hear about in the reviews is The rating for armor and weapons ends up much lower, once you've reached the required level for them As for reviews Angry Joe made one for both games and the Dragon Age: Origins expansion DAOAwakening DA II

I liked DA2 much better than DA:O; I thought that DA2 was a more mature game since it deals with losses etc. However, it is vert important in DA2 to get the latest patch as they fix some combat issues as well as the issue with enemies going like a water balloon when they get hit - after applying the patch.
Also, in DA2 you get a market (black emporium and a dog for free). However, please buy the Sebastian DLC as it will explain some stuff in the game. The DA2 team listened a lot and gave us two more dlcs, the first one is called Legacy and is really great. And so I hear is Mask (mark?) of the assasin.
I liked DA: Origins as well, especially some of the characters and the solutions to quests are much deeper than in DA2. However, when DA:O came out, people lamented - a lot - on the Bioware DA:O forums that there were way too many options to solve quests. And so, Bioware changed this for DA2...
The story in DA2 is really, really great, however the design and execution of the story is somewhat lacking - the game could have needed until june 2011 to be baked just like ME3 would have benefitted from 3-6 months more development.
But such is the world of game development...
PS: If you do nothing else, when you buy and install the DA:Origins, please install The Stone Prisoner aka Shale....Bioware really have outdone themselves when creating this interesting character...

Hi again. I forgot to say thanks to Oldman---I appreciate your help because I've learned through reading all of your posts that you're on top of things and I can always trust your recommendations! Also, thanks Karsten! I haven't heard much about the games but I had heard that there were some glitches and stuff, so it's good to know what to do in case I get one.:) Also that character you mentioned sounds interesting----now I really want to get these games! lol Thanks so much---I'm definitely going to put them on the my Trading Post "post", and peek on ebay and Amazon as well. Tracy

I'll add my voice to those who say these games are definitely worth a shot. I've completed Dragon Age Origins 3 times.
It's the kind of game where choices matter and stay with you through to the very end, where your companions have their own personalities and are dynamic and changeable.
The combat is very Baldur's Gate/Neverwinter Nights and very tactical. It's squad-based so expect to be pausing and thinking in combat instead of just button-mashing.
Dragon Age II is not as dynamic and not as tactical, but it's still a solid game on its own. I recommend playing both (you can import your choices from 1 to 2)

Thanks Smooshmonster! I appreciate ALL of you guys giving me your opinions and ideas because I've been really spoiled by Morrowind, Oblivion, and now Skyrim, and so I tend to expect that kind of gaming and atmopshere from every RPG I play. But, on the other hand, I don't want to use my expectations to miss out something really great just because it isn't like the Elder Scrolls games. Thanks again! Tracy
