Is there any way to limit the movement to stop it being so random and wobbly? I can't find an 'options' and I am trying to knock the nail out in the Gallery, as it is timed, I have practiced, but after William goes to his office and the timing commences I can never get to the nail in time I seem to wobble all over the place!! duh

Hi monbron,

When you first start up the game you should see a pop-up menu where you can change graphics options. I tried playing this game and had major problems with the movement, which did improve a little when I switched to the lowest setting possible. luck

Thanks Rushes I have now tried all of them and I'm not sure, what was the name of the one you used, some seem to have a time lag. thanks

I used "Fast" setting. The game still didn't run perfectly for me even after that. I gave up. lol

Might be worth posting in Glitches forum for advice, though.

Ok having finshed Riven I am going back to Dark Secrets, I have now tried all the settings for knocking out the nail and I can't get there in time, I don't really want a saved game I just want to know how anybody else managed it, I am thinking if Rushes gave up and having seen the requests for saves for other parts of the game whether in fact I will get anywhere with this game??? hardwall

Hi monbron, I must have been one of the minority of people where this game flowed along so well I didn't even realise that 'knocking out the nail' was timed! - & I did go on to finish the game with no problems.

I have read so many posts where players have had problems some of which I only encountered after replaying & making save games for players after I had a series of Microsoft updates or it might have been other updates for something else - I don't know!

I feel very sorry for the developers but I can't immediately think of any other timed parts in the game so if you can get past that hopefully you can progress!

The way I got to knock the nail out was to talk to William to get him to go & check the archives again & then immeidately go into the room on the left & use the hammer on the nail at the top of the picture.... smile

NB I would be quite happy to send you a save game if you need one!

Hi monbron, I used screen resolution 1024 x 768 & started off with the default setting of 'good' as far as I can remember. About half-way through the first playthrough I upped it to 'fantastic' with no problems at the time! smile
