An interesting day it was, and to some degree, frustrating. Our new mini blinds showed up today and we spent late morning and all afternoon installing them.
It was frustrating in that as usual, the installation instruction were just as clear as normal. Which left looking at the pictures to see how to install them. And not being able to get a pencil mark to show on the wood paneling that was used to finish the inside of the window.
I could mark the location of the mounting bracket for centering the blinds in the window, but couldn't get a good mark when drawing with the grain of the paneling. I tried a regular pencil, a red pencil and a white pencil. Nothing really showed up. I finally did get a faint regular pencil line marked, but it was a pain to see.
Once the end mounting brackets were in place, and the blinds placed in them, I then had to hold the center support in place while I tried to mark it's location. Another good mark across the grain of the paneling and faint one with the grain. Once again, it worked, but there should be a better way to mark all the holes needed to mount everything. Like maybe a paper template. Ah, well, experience is a great teacher.
The other pain was not being able to move everything out of the way so I could work right in front of each window. But, as usual, and a few not so calm thoughts, they finally got installed.
All that's left is to put up the window treatments and stand back and admire the work. I have to wonder what the next project will be, but only time will tell.
If something gets your goat, it just proves you have a goat to get.
