Barb, GOG is a great site. I've never had problems running their updated versions of ancient games - including the old Infocom Zork series, which was originally DOS-based. Glad you've discovered it. Many happy memories there.

I know this is a very long shot but depite GOG having successfully ironed out the many bugs the original release of QFG4 had and my enjoying myself very much, I've got badly stuck and am hoping for some advice !! lol

I've acquired 5 of the "rituals" and now only need the one from Katrina (which I must get next) and then the one from the being that dwells in the cave.

But to get to Katrina I first need to be captured by Ad Avis and be locked in a dungeon - and try as I might I can't trigger my capture woozy

I've visited every available place and talked to every available person but the conversations are the same every time now so nothing new to be had.

Ad Avis should be near the castle gates but I've roamed the entire forest and there is no sign of him anywhere.

Unless someone can offer help, I'll have to resort to going back a LOT of saves and playing stuff over again in the hopes of shaking something up eek

So .... Anyone out there able to offer help, please ??

Mad wave

Hi Mad. Wish I could help, but you're way ahead of me. I'm still on day 3 or 4. I remember in this game that if you didn't ask the right question at the right time, you couldn't advance. I can't remember how you get to Baba Yaga!

I ordered M&M 1 thru 6 and 7 & I put QFG4 on hold while I play M&M6. I also want to play World of Xeen.

Mad, have you remembered to click on yourself to see if that will shake loose some dialogue?

Hmmmm. It's lookin' like I WILL have to revert to an old save and try again by doing stuff in a different order rolleyes

[ I'm pretty sure I've done everything I should but possibly not in the order preferred by Sierra !! wink ]

And yes, looney4labs, since I posted here about having been remiss in "talking to myself" I've been doing it constantly lol

And Barb, I too have M&M6 on the go - but I took a break to play QFG4 !! laugh

Thanks for both your replies grin

Lol, Mad I was pretty sure you were, but since I often forget what I just figured out, I thought I'd ask.

I hope it works for you this time. luck

I can still hear the music at the Inn. It always reminded me of the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies.

I'm really trying hard not to download the series because I played them so often in the past but, knowing me, I'll probably break down and take the plunge. grin crazy

Hehehe !! You'll never resist, oldman !!!! rotfl

Also .. EDIT :
I contacted the QFMG forum and was told to try sleeping all night at the inn.
Well, I had already tried that to no avail so I went back a few saves and then tried it - and this time it worked and I "triggered" some progress.
So I am merrily on my way again yay

yay Wonderful, Mad! yay

I'll be back on this one soon. M&M6 has me going, though. I had a bug in every version of that one I tried ( I couldn't get inside VARN), so maybe I can complete the game now!

Go for it, John! You know you can't resist! How long has it been since you played the series? It's been so long for me that it has been like playing new games. It's a shame they don't make 'em like that any more!

It's been several years. I found a fix where I could play QG4 from the disc, probably more than 5 years ago but 1-3 was longer ago than I care to remember.

I'm getting closer to downloading them for later. Too many games awaiting my immediate attention to get to them right away but will probably keep them in the wings anyway.

What's that word? BAAGS??????

But you can download and burn to disk - to play later, oldman - so no need to hold fire taz

I really do have to burn my downloaded games onto disk. I have so many of them, now. BAAGS Aaway!!!!

I've recently been tempted by Quest for Glory downloads, I have to say. I think it was QFG 5 that started me liking a small amount of action in my games (that, and the last King's Quest game). Does that sound right? I remember a very small bit of combat and being very upset at first but coming to like it. Or is that my old brain giving out on me?
