Some of you most likely know GOG has the Tex Murphy Games on sale for half price through Friday May 31. I have the last three games on disk but the swapping is a pain as is getting them to run. You can do it but for $4.99 GOG saves you a lot of headache.
I just loaded Under A Killing Moon. Believe it or not the old saves from several years ago work in the GOG version. What a great thing to discover old saves work.
I am running it on Win7 64 bit. I have not gotten too far into it but so far so good. In case you were worried about how it would run, it appears good to go. To find the saves the program tree is beastly. The route or path is as follows.
Documents and settings\ User name\ App Data\ Local\ Virtual Store\ Program Files X86\ Gog.com\ Under A Killing Moon\ Games
Like I said it is a long path. Unlike other games there is no Saves folder. The saves go into the games folder. The first save will be labeled such as, Don___00.000
Any save you wish to add must be next in sequential order. To paste in an old save you have to rename it. In the case shown above an added save would be Don___00.001 For you who have not played it when you make your first save the game will ask you for your name. The saves will use your name such as noted above. It allows for up to six letters. As shown above Don is only three so it follows with three underscores to satisfy the six character requirement.
I suggest you start the game make a save at first opportunity. Then check the windows explorers tree to verify where your saves are. You should have only one in the games folder your name followed by 00.000
As I said the good news is old saves are recognized and the game runs easily in Win7 64 bit. I was surprised to discover the old saves worked. For $4.99 you can't go wrong with these classics. The deal ends Friday May 31.
I hope you guys find this info useful.
