I'm having a lot of trouble killing the Skeleton King. Can anyone give me some tips for solo playing success with him?
BTW, I'm playing a ranged character.

THere is a WT for that part here. Also if you google Diable 3 Skeleton King you get a list of videos that can help.

I've already read the WT's and watched the videos, but I was hoping someone had some secret way that worked for them lol. I can't seem to stay away from him. I don't know if the computer freezes me or the Skeleton King does.
Anyway, thanks for the links and trying to help me.

Thanks Ana....I couldn't get in earlier.

Debra, I'm playing a monk but I ran and healed a lot....Son is playing Demon Hunter and he used traps and kept on the move and healed a lot. You can always get someone to jump in and help to...and I think you can get the templar or the theif to help from in town. wave luck

I have the Templar with me, but it's the movement problem. Sounds like it may just be me. I'll just have to keep trying.
Can you join a public game and then go back to solo?
Also, can you start the game over until you level up to say 12 or something and then try the Skeleton king again or does he level up with you?

Debra, I'm pretty sure you can drop in and out of games...whether with friends or public. You could start the game over but if you haven't killed him yet, I'm not sure why you would start over.

I don't believe he levels with you...you can always go farm some levels and then try again. Of course, once you beat the game on normal and go on to Nightmare, he will, of course, be much harder.

You can also have someone come in and help with just that fight.

I like to explore and loot so I don't mind roaming around and getting levels before a fight.

It might also be that you need to use a different sset of skills. I will change a skill sometimes before a certain fight, and son does it quite often. The way the skills are set up makes it easy and quick to do that. luck

Did you pick the skills you want the Templar to use and give him better stuff?

I found the King was pretty easy with a Barbarian, but rather harder with a Wizard - the health orbs dropped by the King's minions were critical.

Sounds like you really need to level up a few times, or find some much better armour if you can't deal with the King, because boss at the end of Act I is significantly harder.

I'm level nine and I did choose the Templar's skills to heal us and gave him better weapons (not much better stuff 'cause I didn't have much).
L4L, the reason I would start over was to be able to level more. I've run all the dungeons and cleared the map a lot to get to nine before I started and to hope better stuff would drop.
I've got a couple of rings and trained the blacksmith once and made better armor. Most of the rest of my armor is just drops. I got a good bow thankfully.
I'm just having a hard time moving in the fight.
I may try to join a public game and see if I can get past here.
Thanks for all the tips. I'll try anything at this point.

I am not playing the game so if my comment is not right just disregard it.

I play games mainly on PS3 and also a PC, I am always better (for the same game) with the PS3 just because of the controller. My ability playing PC games improved a lot after buying a keypad, CyberSnipa and a very good mouse for games, Death Adder, both recommended by fellow boomers. If your problem is with the movement it could be you need to make a similar change. Some games accept the XBOX controller and if one is used to controllers this is an excellent "weapon" for movement.

I bought an Xbox PC controller for Skyrim, but I don't know if you can use it with D3. I never use that controller otherwise so I'm not sure I would push the right botton woozy, but thanks for the suggestion. I had not thought of that.

I played the hunter in Beta. I died alot. The best way for me was to run away, turn then give him all you got. Make sure you are zoomed out when he gets close run. Kill the minons for health globes. I was level 9 and it took awhile to kill him.
Have you tried clicking on the ground and hold the left mouse button down then move your mouse around. Your toon will follow. This is the only way for me to run fast. If you want send me a Pm and I'll help you
