Absolutely, Hagatha. All the QFG games have some combat in them. I think that's what got me to loving RPGs. I didn't realize what an RPG was until I played QFG, then KQ8, Mask of Eternity. I loved building up my character.

I succumbed to the GOG Quest for Glory downloads this evening and am going to begin the first game in the morning. It's been about 20 years since I've played it and it will probably seem like a brand-new game to me. wave

Well I broke down and ordered the set. Will be downloading shortly. While I was at it I also ordered Torrin's Passage because I saw it for $5.99 so a lot of nostalgia for me.

I knew you couldn't resist, John! I played QFG1 also, Marian - it's such a great game. I'm anxious to see if you can import your QAG1 character into 2. I wasn't able to do it. I'm not sure how well I can do in QG2, since it's still the original version with all that typing! But I DO love it.

How are you doing, Mad?

For Barb and Marian (and anyone else who may be interested).

I saved the character at the end of the game to C:glory1.sav and I learned that because of DOSBox the game considers the C drive to be:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Quest for Glory Pack\Quest for Glory 1\VGA (if you're playing the VGA version of the game).

So that's where I found my character save.

Once you find your glory1.sav file then you have to move it to your QFG2 folder. Then when you go to import you change folder to C: and the file should show up and be available to import. At least that's how it worked for me.

I'm starting from the beginnng and have finished QFG1 and am now on 2. What surprised me is that the original is now a VGA and QFG2 was never upgraded to VGA so you have to type your commands in and use the arrow keys to move. Of course, that's how I remember the game so I'm enjoying reliving it.
