I have a suggestion. I think that all comments about the list should be addressed in a separate subject and that the list subject should be restricted to list postings only.
I noticed that there are 57 posts on the list subject but less than half are actually postings of the members lists themselves.
I sometimes try to check for the number of entries (for lack of a better word) and find that the number of posts tell me nothing.
Maybe it's a lame suggestion but it's mine and I'm sticking to it.

You're completely right, oldman, and I apologize for my digression. Gil.

You'd better sticky this, then. Or put out beside List for 2012. Who reads this first? Gil. briefly considered hara kiri for being a malefactor but...nah.

Actually, its kind of a relief to find not every post needs to be counted But I think a seperate thread is an excellent idea.

I agree with Cocoa, it is a fun thread. And a good idea also. But.........the funniest part of it is that there are no comments on the list? Maybe we need a third thread to talk about the fact that........ Chief

Nice to see a fair few votes for the Frogwares' Sherlock games. I'd vote for Testament, only it hasn't been released yet. More votes for Dear Esther! More! Who's this 'Isabelle' chick, anyway?

Now, Rushes, Esther has a vote; enough, methinks, for a game that may not even be one. flotsam, you're going to have to supply copies of Isabelle, Win 7 compatible, if you want her to make any headway on the list. I mean, it's bad when you can't even find a game on YouTube! Gil.

I may have to be satisfied with just knowing that at least its a real game And one played only by archaeologists, the only ones other than you likely to know about it. Have you ever written a review of Isabelle? Nooo? How come? I'm really curious to know what it's about. Wikipedia has four lines about it and all GamersHell has is a bunch of odd screenshots. So thrilled to finally be wicked! I thought no one would ever notice. You've totemized me for the last time, Boss. I'm telling the world. Gil.

Flotsam wrote a review of Isabelle when he wrote for the Quandary website.

flotsam,
Isabelle appears to be everything I usually avoid in an adventure game, yet I'm not sure I wouldn't like to play it.
The graphics are the most obvious negative for me, simple, brightly colored and childish.
The biggest negative for me is probably that the game is not linear. Criticisms that a game is too linear will likely make me more inclined to play it because I don't care for games in which you wander around gawking at the sights and eventually figure out you're supposed to do something, but what? If you look at the games on my list for 2012, it's fairly obvious that I'm never going to vote for Myst.
Keyboard controls...well, possibly. With the obvious exception of my dear Grim, I'm not fond of them and not good at them either. And if I have to put the pieces together from snatches of conversation to figure out what is going on, I'm more likely to be eternally lost than becoming more and more involved in the story.
That said, your review is intriguing. You use words like different, extraordinary, unusual, compelling. It's hard to ignore the impression it made on you.
I once avoided mysteries by Janwillem van de Wetering because of reviews like this one: "He is doing what Simenon might have done if Albert Camus had sublet his skull". Now I'd dig the man up if I thought I could get another book out of him. So, I've learned that the odd, the different, the slightly surreal might be right up my alley. Maybe Isabelle is, too.
Gil.

Hey, flotsam, How is the list coming? Any more games have more than ten votes? Oh, yeah, impatient! Gil.

Another thing that I like about the list is checking out other members choices that have similar game tastes as I do. Venus, Oldman, and several other members always give me some good ideas for new games. The highlight is always reading Becky's list. I wonder how she narrows it down to 20 games? It must be tough for her. Do you charge a celebrity endorsement fee?

Do you charge a celebrity endorsement fee? If only! Like many other adventure gamers, I play games fiendishly this time of year and tear my hair out trying to decide which games to list and which to eliminate. I am VERY thankful that lots of people participate, because games I liked but couldn't include (to keep the choices to twenty) are nearly always listed by others at some point, so they get some notice. BTW -- I don't play as many adventures overall as certain other staff members do...like MaG, for instance. And it wouldn't be possible without flotsam and Chief! The counting is a lot of work.

Becky, If MaG plays more games than you she must really have an advanced stage of BAAGS. flotsam, How does a game get into the Hall of Fame? Over what span of years does a game have to rate highly and how does an older game into the HOF?
