Well it is raining. Wonder if the slow runners like it?? Today was the running of Gramma's Marathon!!! Lots of world runners here this year too. Thought for sure the guy from Kenya would take it again but some guy from Ethiopia won the 26.2 mile run in 2:12:25 so Beardsley's record still stands at 2:09:37! The half Marathon was also the USA Half Marathon Championship Race. With a former Duluthian and Olympian runner, Kara Goucher winning the 13.9 mile race in 1:09:36 and set a new record!! Sortas what a saga that is with the lawn boy!!! Wow!!! Gee Bets it's a nice cool 55 here. Have a lovely BBQ!! Trippy sounds like a fun day....enjoy!! Ana glad the head finally feels better. HUGS! May it remain that way now. No plans just playing a few demos and doing some puzzles. Will be going in a little while to the Moose and have a look at the new lodge!! They haved music till 8!! L4l safe flight for Soot!! Have fun cleaning. Oh Scarlet have fun but DO be careful!!! Nan

Home, again... Well, grandson's baseball game saw two undefeated teams come together. Grandson's team gave it their best, however, lost 4 to 0. It was a great game to watch and we're very proud of all the players! Woohoo! Hey, L4L! Welcome home to Soot! Alrighty, Hubby's grilling salmon and shrimp. I make a baste for the shrimp consisting of crushed garlic, melted butter, lemon juice, dijon mustard, italian seasonings, and olive oil. Whisk together and voila'! It's really yummy! I'm pairing this with a fabulous cabernet. I know it's quite hardy for the salmon, but we love it! Off to see what's afoot!

I had a fun day with a variety of things to do. First hubby and I took the dogs for a hike and swim until the storms came. So much lightning and booms! Of course we came home and the rain stopped a block away from my house. We so desperately needed it too. Then I went shopping for the race tomorrow and found a couple dresses for a wedding I have in a month. I put them on hold and came home and hubby took me to dinner and then we went to the mall so that he could pick which dress he liked better , bought it and then we came home. Now I am back to work. Sorta, I am sorry to hear that your lawn boy got into trouble. Please be careful around him. Scarlet, good to see you. I hope the doc gives you the all clear. L4L, is soot home now? Andrea, good to see you. Nan, Haroula, Darlene, your dinner sounds fantastic! Sorry grandson's team didn't win. back to the corner for me.... Ana

Ana, sounds like a wonderful day. I'm glad you found a dress. Good luck tomorrow! Soot is in Dallas but should be catching his last flight in about an hour. I'll pick him up around 10:30 tonight so I'll be driving by Braille again. We are all ready for dad to come home. I'm finished for the day. There will also be more work that could be done, but I'm happy. Then I took a nap. Woke to find son and boys gone. I think son said they were going to the park. Cully threw a huge kicking and screaming tantrum til his mom got out the door. I looked at him and said, "Cullen, stop right now." He did continue to sniffle but the screaming, yelling, and kicking ceased. <shakes head> The last things I need to do are feed the dogs and clean me up which I will do once son gets back. I don't like showering when I'm home alone as the dogs always find a reason to rush the door barking. Back in a bit

After Bible study today, did a lesson on my Adobe After Effects v7 software using the Creative After Effects v7 book and its accompanying DVD, then had a practice session with my Driver's Ed 99 software.
I repeated the drive around the block lesson, passed it for thr 3rd time out of ~40 attempts, advanced to the next lesson (venture further out into the virtual city), but made some major driving errors including some tickets and a few crashes, accidentally getting the car's front wheels on the curb during a turn, so....
Repeated the drive around the block lesson a few more times, failed, until I passed a total of 4 times out of 46 attempts and down to only 2 driving errors -
error # 1: approached intersection too fast; error # 2: stopping in intersection or crosswalk.
On the plus side, a lot of my red traffic light and stop sign stops are getting smoother, whereas when I first started these practice sessions all of my stops were the kind where the car's brakes screeched - what does this mean?
Also, I'm starting to get better with the computer steering wheel's controls, such as with the blind spot and turn signal controls b/c I'm starting to memorize the pattern of this Drive Around The Block lesson - so I'm wondering, to you driving Boomer's here, I have a question:
Just as it helps me a lot to pass the driving lessons if/when I memorize the pattern of where to turn, when to change lanes (that is, when I approach Intersection Y but not Intersection X, for example), does this (memorizing the route pattern) also apply to real-life driving a car on the road (like say, if I want to drive locally, such as to the Barnes & Noble bookstore at the Homestead Waterfront (approx. 5 miles from home) in one direction, or the Panera Bread coffee shop near the local shopping mall (about 5 - 6 miles from home) in the opposite direction?

Evening and greetings to one and all. A fun day but a lot of walking with temps in the low 80's. Need to put the feet up and watch a bit of t.v.
Ana, will be thinking and rooting for you tomorrow.
Wishing everyone a relaxing eve and night.

L4L, thanks! Safe travels to pick up soot! Cruise, in order to drive you must be prepared for anything. The worst thing in the world is to fee comfortable in a route and assume it will not change daily. The streets may be the same but a dog running out or kid chasing a ball or a car breaking suddenly can happen anywhere, anytime and your reflexes must be sharp to avoid hurting yourself or someone else. Trippy, thank you! I'll need all the cheering I can get. How was your festival? Ana

Ana I'll be cheering you on tomorrow. I'd love to see the pic of the dress. Any chance you can post? Hey Trippy my friend? Darlene sorry your gson's team lost but I bet he had fun. I need to get to bed as I have another early work shift. So I'll just say good night and see you in the morning. L4L I'm sure you are glad hubby is almost home. I'm sure you'll be glad when he is in your arms. Midgie

Hello everybody. I can't believe it's already 9:15. I came home after being 45 minutes late getting off of work, and ate dinner and then headed down to survey the creek after the rains. It looks like there could be some happy hunting when I have more time and daylight. Right now my feet are killing me after walking 50 miles at work. Thank Goodness I am off tomorrow, so I can do fun stuff like picking up all the leaves and limbs in the yard, and mowing.........in 90 something degree sunshine. There will be a great time for everyone there. Too bad I'm the only one who'll be there. joe
