I bought this game from Gog.

But it freezes as I try to show the guards the badge at the start of the game.

I have Win 7 Home Premium 64 bits SP1 with AMD Radeon HD6800 series.

I tried several compatibilities mode and running as administrator but that did not work.

Are you playing the game in full screen mode or windowed Chief? If it's in full screen mode, try pressing the ALT+Enter keys to toggle it.

Inland, it is windowed.

Toggle it to full screen and see if it still freezes. Short of that, you can try to locate the .conf file and edit the Display settings.

I do not see the possibility to toggle it to full screen and I have no idea where the .conf file is. Sorry.

Got it - and I don't seem to be able to start the game with it, it may be corrupt. Point your browser to the link below and download a save game just after your location.

Inland, reading your comment on a possible corrupt file, I deleted everything from GOG including the downloader and I'm currently downloading the game from a new install of GOG downloader.

I'll try installing it on my XP computer. I downloaded it from GOG some time ago and put it on a DVD, but never got around to installing it.

The game seems to work fine on this computer, except for a flickering cursor. I played a little way into it and it made a couple of saves. Check your email.

Oooops, back with the same problem as before.

I had to show the badge to some gards in the forest while going to the fisherman's cabin and the game frooze as it did before when I had to show it at the beginning of the game.

Strange.

Going by the Willem van der Velden walkthrough, it looks like you'll have to show your badge a few more times in this game.

I wasn't planning to replay this game any time soon, but if you want to email me your save files I can try to play past the trouble spots for you.

Try this -

Right click the Desktop Icon, select Properties and copy the path to the executable. Mine is: "C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Atlantis - The Lost Tales\Atlantis.exe".

Open Windows Explorer, peruse to the game location and right Atlantis.exe, select Properties. On the compatibility tab place a check mark on every item except Run in 640x480 Screen Resolution.
