When you enter the antiquities tent, straight ahead are 2 shelves.
There is a jar(s) on the left shelving. Use the pick on the jar. This part is optional.

While at the central room of the tomb - face the entryway for tunnel 1 - the one on the left if you have your back to the main door.

See hieroglyphs left and right of the entryway. Those are the ones you translate.

BTW - Translate any hieroglyph that you see that can be translated.

hi mag. can i by-pass this part of the walkthrough and still carry on successfully with the game? i have checked out youtube as well as your reply and still can't get it. is translating hieroglyphs at either side of the entryway an integral 'must' to the game? i don't need a saved game quite yet. robert.

hi mag. do you have any tips for solving the mirror puzzle? it seems to me you can't apply any logic or you cannot even follow your walkthrough example as you can't predict the various mirrors and which way they will go. you are working blind. robert.

Actually:
- I did apply logic to that puzzle. I checked (if I remember correctly) where the mirrors are located.
- then I formed a path that I think would work.
- Once I know all then I arrange the mirrors going backwards (from end to front).

Also I think this is a set (not random) puzzle - so you can copy the walkthrough solution.

Look at the solution above that applies to your puzzle.
Then arrange the mirrors in your puzzle the same way that picture shows it. luck

After you light the lamp, then you can arrange the mirrors.
You will see the overhead view of the room as shown by the solution.
You then click on the mirrors (the lines spread in the room) and they will turn.
Arrange them as shown by the pictured solution.

I sent you a saved game for the first mirror puzzle. I do not have a saved game for the second one. luck

Is the saved game (if you got it) the wrong one?

Robert,

Yes, that is the one.
Can you look close at the hieroglyph and then translate?
If you can't do a translation anymore, I might have done it already when I played.

Robert,

Walk the room.
Stand close to the tomb and face the doorway.
See if you can see and get from there to be at the left corner of the doorway where the jars are located. luck

hi mag. i solved the lamp, mirror puzzle by sheer trial and error. moving along, i have another question for you. how do i translate the rest of the hieroglyphs above the lamp? when i try, i get a rehash of the old puzzle, 'as for the one who broke the seal.....'. how do i get the rest? i have read and re-read your w/t but no answer. robert.

If the translation is not complete - you can click on the quick translate at top left.
If you want to do it manually - you do it like regular cryptogram. Look for a script that is single and maybe it is A or I. You can go from there.

Hi Robert, if you visit the main YouTube page and type in "Nancy Drew Tomb of the Lost Queen", you'll get a list of walkthrough vids to check. Choose the one that's closest to where you are in the game. luck

It might help to watch from the start of the video.
It will help you know how the game is played.
So have a nice time watching.

Enter the tomb.
Enter the hallway to your right (with main entryway on your back).
Go forward until the scarab room.

After you enter the tomb, enter the right hallway.
Then - Just go forward after entering that hallway and you will be in the scarab room.

See the map below;

hi mag. i am doing the gods puzzle - master sleuth - and trying to understand your w/t to this puzzle. the text doesn't seem to match the pictures so i must be misunderstanding. the grid is 8X13 but your w/t mentions the first 4 lines going across L to R. where do the other lines fit in? what are the boxes in green highlight for? i am just trying to get the whole picture into perspective. robert.

Robert,

I thought you're playing amateur sleuth. The text is above the picture solution for Amateur.

So you should be following:
Amateur:
Top (L-R): Jackal, ibis and falcon.
Bottom row (L-R): Beetle, crocodile and lion

As I mentioned above - I thought you're playing Amateur.

If you are playing Master; your puzzle should look like this:

The solution for above Master is:
Master:

Top (L-R): Jackal and jackal.

2nd from top: Falcon, crocodile, lion, crocodile and falcon.

3rd from top: Crocodile, falcon, lion, beetle and beetle.

Bottom row (L-R): Ibis and ibis.

Hint: Do the 2nd and third rows first. Arrange the heads outside the squares (either above or below where you can position the heads - move up-down or left-right). Count the squares, spaces and then get the heads. Then position them at the squares.

Now - your questions as to why it is 8x13 and the solution is 4 rows.

Note that the puzzle is to place certain God's head inside certain boxes-squares in that 8x13 grid.
Those movable squares are 4 rows at the center.
I think those squares have heavy black lines surrounding them.

In the solution above; those squares-boxes are surrounded by green lines.

Tell me if you need more explanation.

If you couldn't, then it might be so.
I think I have a Master saved game here, if you want.

Continue the walkthrough here:

Second coffin: Hear a click. Open the tomb. See another coffin.

Hieroglyphic clue: Translate the hieroglyphic clue.

Nancy says this could be about the queen's children.

I wonder - if I already opened that coffin and that what you see is the next coffin already.
See if that coffin is holding a plaque that is not deciphered yet.

Can you double check to see if the procession of the Gods puzzle below is finished.

Also click all over the coffin and see if it will open.

Robert,

I sent you the next saved game I have. This is after the Nefertari's children puzzle.

Load it and then do this from the walkthrough.

Quote:

Open the second coffin. It's empty!

Decode the papyrus scraps:

Take the torn papers from inside the coffin.
Piece them together. Right click to rotate the pieces.
After putting it together, translate the hieroglyphs.
Learn that the true tomb is here.

When you go to load screen, did you scroll down the list to see if the saves I sent and you loaded are at the beginning?

Also - are you loading the files sent in the Tomb folder found in My Documents folder?

Check now and see. Good luck.

No. It should be similar to the files I sent to you.

Are you in the My Documents folder or Document-Settings or whatever they call it in win7?

Maybe you are not looking for the correct folder or the saves are placed in a different folder in win7.

My win7 is not here right now and I didn't play Nancy Drew in that computer.

Best to do a search under Documents and see if there is a "My Documents" in that Documents folder. luck

hi mag. excuse me, i MIGHT have asked before, but the gods puzzle. 10childrennames..., the one with falcon, alligator, lion, jackel etc. is mixed up and not in the same order as your w/t. isn't the saved game puzzle supposed to be in re-arranged order to get the 2nd coffin? robert.

The last saved game I sent you was after the children's name puzzle.
Check the posts in previous page.
So that god's puzzle is done (also the children's name puzzle).

Check the load page and scroll at beginning. If you placed the saved game at correct place, it might be listed at the beginning of the load list (arranged by dates).

Keep us posted.

The dates are seen in the saved game folder - not in the load page.
The load page just lists your saved games.
The game arranges the listing automatically by date-time.

As you posted: 10childrennames

I don't know where win7 keeps Nancy Drew saved games.
In XP, it is in My Documents folder - Tomb of the Lost Queen folder.

Check if you can find My Documents folder in Document Library folder.

Robert,

Then once you open the game - the saved game that way; save the game right then and there.
Then you proceed using the walkthrough after the 10 children puzzle done.

Good luck.

hi mag. i am replaying 'lost queen' as junior detective instead of senior and back at the mirror puzzle again. i am sure i have asked this question before. - i solved the mirror puzzle, but when i translate the glyphs behind the lamp, the translation is incomplete. how do i get the entire translation in one go? robert.

Are you talking about this glyph?

When you translate a glyph:
- you can use the quick translate at top left and it should do it in one go.
- or do it manually by deducing what the letters are missing. For example - you have a single glyph; that could either be I or A. Slowly deduce the letters.

This is from the walkthrough:

Use the dictionary on the glyphs.

Everyone who had been in this place, they are wretches. There is no remedy for them because I know their names. Beware. This is the taste of death. Darkness shall conceal them.

Then the glyphs cannot be translated.

So just do the one that I posted a picture above. luck

Let's review:
- You see the hieroglyph above the lamp.
- Click the dictionary on it and part is translated; the rest cannot be decoded.
- look close at the part that cannot be translated.
- solve it like any cryptogram. There is no easy way like you want.

You can copy the solution from the picture I posted.

- look close at the part of the hieroglyph that you cannot decode.
- you will see the above puzzle - without the solution.
- now click on a letter at top of screen and place it under the glyph that it corresponds to or you decoded or as you can see from the solution in the picture above.

luck

There should be letters at top of puzzle screen.
You click on a letter and then click under the glyph you want to place it on.

Are you in close up?
Are you seeing the puzzle that is shown in above picture (without solution of course)?

The unsolved portions are made up of (hiero)glyphs.
You place the letters under them like in the picture posted above.

If what you're seeing is jumbled words then it sounds as if you're part way through solving the puzzle, but some of the letters are in the wrong places and need to be changed.

Here's a YouTube video which might help -- it shows the solving of a number of hieroglyphs in the game, and perhaps the one you're stuck on is among them:

Hieroglyph solves

At the least it will show you the process of solving these type of puzzles.

If you see those words - see if you can change the letters to the correct ones as shown by the solution picture.

Click a wrong letter and then click the letter from the top that you want change it with.

It is that picture I posted above.

Mag. i am close to the end but where is the 'new passage' after the ceiling caves in, trapping Lily in false tomb area? robert.

It is that passage that opened up earlier on left wall by the foot of the mummy.
You went through there earlier to get to tunnel 2.

The true tomb is at top right of the map below.
The passage that opened up is the one going left from there.

Mag. i don't think i am at the correct tomb? when Nancy wants shelter in the tomb, i end up looking at a coffin - with a dead cat! that can't be right. i followed your w/t but i'm not at the gold coffin. please direct me to the right place. robert.

I think you went too far.
Check the map above - see that tunnel 2 is at center.
So from the true tomb; go though the wall.
Then when you reach a door; go through and be at tunnel 2. Turn left from there to go the main chamber.
(Now I believe you did this - if you go through another door across the one you came through - then you will reach another passage that will lead you to the cat's tomb room.)

hi Mag. i've got the signal box, the ankh key and the riddle from Jamila but i cannot find my way back to the gate where i can use the ankh key. your w/t should, but doesn't get me there so please don't paraphrase. there must be other words you can use or alternate ways to go as i end up going round in circles. thanks, robert.

From across Jamila - scarab room - passage - main room - tunnel 2 at top center - last door at right - passage - forward twice - right at gate - use key.
