Hello please can anyone help me? I have been playing the game Voyage, strange but fun, while I was stuck on another game now I am stuck on this one. I have got to the part where you have to do some weird maths to get into the Selenite settlement. It is all dots dashes and squares. Maths are not my best subject to start with but have managed till now. Can someone please try and explain the process to one of little brain. I am ashamed to say I do not understand the explaination in the walkthrough.

Hi Lozza,

Does this help:

You add the numbers (dots-bars) on the panel to the numbers (dots-bars) on the floor. The sum you get is entered at the empty squares on the panel.

The dots are ones.
The bars are 5s.
These addition is base 20 (not like the base 10 that you're used to). So anything over 20 on the right column of your addition is carried over to the left column as 1.

If not -- let us know.

Hi, I actually worked out the first one all by myself. Now I am at second where you do indeed have to carry over. The right column has to have two dots added and the left column one dot added. Fine so far but it doesn't seem to work. The right column is always nineteen so can only add one? carry over the one to the left which is two shall we say,add carried one and one on floor= four? NO! I have also tried to add ten instead of one that does not work either, where am I going wrong please?

I am not understanding what you mean. smile

You say???????
right column +2
Left column +1

Then:
Right column is 19 (3 lines and 4 dots).
Your question - can only add one.
Answer - no - you can add the 2 to make 21 - leaving only 1 on right column (one dot + one carryover to left column).

You say:
Left column has 2 already + 1 (carry over from right column) + 1 from floor = 4 dots.

Is that what you mean?

-------
Tell me what you have on left and right column and also what you have on the floor.
I'll see if I can explain it better with what you start with.

Sorry to confuse you, prob wiv left and right there on my part!
Now on the floor there is, on the right two dots, left column one dot. The right column always seems to only add to nineteen no more. So you have to always carry over at least one. The column on the left can be anything so, adding that and then the one dot from the floor plus the one carried over should I thought, give you the required amount.
I have tried it that way but nothing seems to work.
Senario, right column is eighteen, you can only add one of the two on the floor so carry one over? The column on the left is three add one from floor then one carried? I make the right column five, or am I a complete idiot?

You gave me the floor numbers, please give me the panel numbers.

Having 19 doesn't need to be carried over. Only 20 can be carried over to the left column.

Sorry I said I was not good at maths. The game is random so not always the same numbers. The right column is usally no less than 17 no more than 19. With the two on the floor that is either 19 20 or 21. the game will not let you add a bar for 5 and no more than 4 dots, so anything over 19 needs to be carried. The left side can be anything from 1 upwards. So my thinking is as the right side does not accept any more than 19 with the floor two dots the total is 21. So carry two? Let's say the left side is only three dots add one from floor and two carried, equalls six so one bar and one dot should do it? Doesn't work, so I am doing something very wrong here hope you can sort this for me. I know I am a pain in the rear but would really like to get on with this game, as I am sure I will meet more "counting" locked gates on my travels through the game.

It does use bars and dots and should carry if the addition is done correctly.
No - you cannot carry 2 for 19. Only 20 can be carried since this is base 20.

I believe this is what confuses you.
- Each column is to be added alone - not together.
- Add the right column first and then work on the left column.

For example:
panel on wall has left column - 2
panel on wall right column - 19

Floor:
left - 1
right - 2.

Now do the right column first:
19 (panel) + 2 (floor) = 21
Enter 1 which is one dot. Carry over 1 to the left column since this is base 20.

Now do the left column:
2 (panel) + 1 (floor) + 1 (carry over) = 4
Enter 4 dots.

What you can do is open a new puzzle - look at what numbers are in the panel and on the floor.
Leave the game open on that spot.
Open the browser and post here what those numbers are and we can check it.
I will wait.

Right column:
3 bars + 3 dots = 18
2 dots = 2
18 + 2 = 20

Left column:
1 bar + 4 dots = 9
one dot = 1
9 + 1 = 10

Enter on the middle squares:
Right column = square (for zero)
Left column = 2 lines + 1 dot (for 10 + 1 which is the carryover from right column = 11)

Thank you so much for your reply.
You will be sad to know that I still did not understand the answer, but more than pleased to hear that my son did! He opened the gate for me and I can progress at last! He has patiently explained your reply and I think I may have it now. Only one question remaining, sorry. Does it get worse later in the game or stay the same at these gates, do you know? Please.

There was one puzzle that really got to me and that is the language problem. Some got though that easier than I did. lol
I see that you're done with it though.

Sorry but I am stuck again on Voyage. I have done all I have to I think, but I cannot find the bolts for the protective sheild. I have nuts but no bolts! I tried the nuts but the sheild just goes back into my inventory, I tried the spanner, sorry wrench, too but same happened. I have tried to buy them back incase I sold them but they are not up for grabs! I also went round each colourful site to see if I jettisoned them at the start( I don't think I would have done that as they don't weigh enough), but can't find them. So please can you help? I remember, though it seems a very long time ago, taking the bolts out, and they were in the inventory I think, if so where did they go. It also says to take powder from the barrel, what barrel where? I am sure I have used powder I made for something else, I still have the ammo though.

A member had a similar problem with not being able to find the bolts -- they found them by the side of the rifle? (Not sure where that might be!) Double check all tabs of your inventory in case they're hidden somewhere there. Also your holding box next to your inventory; sometimes items can stack up there before you put them away in the tabs.

Otherwise, check the forest at the centre of the area -- any remaining items thrown from the shuttle should be found there.

The powder barrel is in one of the cabinets in the shuttle.

I used the pocket knife on the bullets so got gunpowder guess that's okay for that? still to find the bolts. As I said I have re-visited all the areas where the space debris was jettisoned. No bolts that I can see. I remember picking up the rifle but not the bolts....yet I do remember them in inventory. I have gone back to earlier save and gone through the start again where you have to remove the bolts, they do not go into inventory! I have removed the bolts from all three portholes.None of them have ended up in inventory! What do you call the forest? The dual coloured sections of plants? If so I have searched those areas till I am screaming! haha! I have entered by jumping from the centre mound and by going to each section individually, no luck. Guess I will have to start again, which is dauunting as nearly finished I think.

Yes, the forest is the middle dual coloured section.

I don't know where the bolts might be, I'm sorry. frown I didn't play this game -- too mathematical for me.

There are some saved games HERE that you might find useful rather than starting the game over.

Otherwise another member might hopefully have a clue as to where the bolts might be. luck

Thank you for your time and trouble. Also for the saves I have never had any luck with them, can't seem to get them into my game save. I am such a computer idiot. I think I will continue with the new start till I find the rifle if the boilts are also there, I can then go back to my later save and look in that location,if I find them great, but if not I will have to go back to the begining, can't not finish now! Let you know how I fare?

Thanks mate! That must have helped as I went back one more time to try for the bolts. I realised that at the begining the bolts stayed in situ, so looked for them and there they were on the other side of the porthole door still. I put the shield on when port hole open then closed the port hole and used the spanner to tighten bolts job done! What a bloomin' idiot eh? Off to finish off now. keep you posted.

I have finished the game, and yes I did enjoy it, even though it drove me daft at times. There was a thing about a painting at the end which I didn't understand. I looked for the statue but did not find it. The only statue I could find was the one by Scurvy the insomniac, but when I clicked it, it broke again, so I am guessing it was not that statue! I got fed up in the end and just went to the launch and it did indeed go ahead without the painting, statue,or 20 in one eye and eight in the other! What was that all about? I am a bit annoyed as I don't like not exploring all the options, but as I said I was fed up. Thanks once again for all your help, especially with the maths earlier. I actually went in and out of the gate three times to get maximum points! Now that one I understood! ha ha. Looking for something else to play now any ideas?

Great that you made it to the end. thumbsup

For your next game, hopefully without my sounding too horribly biased, how about Testament of Sherlock Holmes?
