For those of you who need instructions for cryptic crossword clues, check out this page . These have all been created by a variety of well-known constructors. There may be one or two that we might question, but they're still fun. Please explain all answers. -1. Melting ice originally covered by brownish-purple volcanic rock (6) -2. Be overly frugal and fail to report income partner's capital (5) -3. Chunks of egg left among almonds and pecans (7) -4. Sailing canoe by myself across part of the Pacific (7) -5. Some decadent or temptingly rich dessert (5) -6. Pointed out parts as two contrary things (9) -7. Part of a flight heading to Rome is evacuated earlier (5) -8. Speech or a lecture about musical composition (7) -9. Dark brown endless abyss in large body of water (5) -10. Buggy got ruined taking the back roads (9) -11. Error by group of lawmen switching last two reports (7)

Sometimes lost is where you need to be. Just because you don't know your direction doesn't mean you don't have one.

7: Part of a flight heading to Rome is evacuated earlier (5) Riser = part of flight (of stairs!). R(ome) IS E(arlie)R ; if so, "evacuated earlier" is really neat!!

Good solve, Denis. I liked that one, too. The last one is a simple charade. The clue splits where you don't expect it to.

2. Be overly frugal and fail to report income partner's capital (5) cheap? cheat = fail to report income p = partner's capital (capital letter = first letter) ...probably wrong; don't see anything indicating "t" being replaced by "p"...
