A story I'll tell of a burglar bold

Who started to rob a house;

He opened the window, and then crept in

As quiet as a mouse.

He looked around for a place to hide,

'Till the folks were all asleep,

Then said he, "With their money

I'll take a quiet sneak."

So under the bed the burglar crept;

He crept up close to the wall;

He didn't know it was an old maid's room

Or he wouldn't have had the gall.

He thought of the money that he would steal,

As under the bed he lay;

But at nine o'clock he saw a sight

That made his hair turn gray.

At nine o'clock the old maid came in;

"I am so tired," she said;

She thought that all was well that night

So she didn't look under the bed.

She took out her teeth and her big glass eye,

And the hair from off her head;

The burglar, he had forty fits

As he watched from under the bed.

From under the bed the burglar crept,

He was a total wreck;

The old maid wasn't asleep at all

And she grabbed him by the neck.

She didn't holler, or shout or call,

She was as cool as a clam;

She only said, "The Saints be praised,

At last I've got a man!"

From under the pillow a gun she drew,

And to the burglar she said,

"Young man, if you don't marry me,

I'll blow off the top of your head!"

She held him firmly by the neck,

He hadn't a chance to scoot;

He looked at the teeth and the big glass eye,

And said, "Madam, for Pete's sake, shoot!"

Pondering old age

How do I know that my youth is all spent?
Well, my get up and go has got up and went.
But in spite of it all I am able to grin
when I recall where my get up has been.

Old age is golden-so I've heard it said-
but sometimes I wonder when I get into bed,
with my ears in a drawer and my teeth in a cup,
my eyes on the table until I wake up.

Ere sleep dims my eyes I say to myself,
"Is there anything else I should lay on the shelf?"
And I'm happy to say as I close my door,
my friends are the same, perhaps even more.

When I was young, my slippers were red,
I could pick up my heels right over my head.
When I grew older, my slippers were blue,
but still I could dance the whole night through.

But now I am old, my slippers are black,
I walk to the store and puff my way back.
The reason I know my youth is all spent,
my get up and go has got up and went.

But I really don't mind when I think, with a grin,
of all the grand places my get up has been.
Since I have retired from life's competition,
I accommodate myself with complete repetition.

I get up each morning, and dust off my wits,
pick up my paper and read the "obits".
If my name is missing, I know I'm not dead,
so I eat a good breakfast and go back to bed
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everyboomie. wave
Welcome to the weekend! yay
Sorry I'm in a bit of a hurry to get my hiney to bed. It's an early early wake up for me. tired
One more day till the weekend, two more days till my weak end. razz
Good morning Boomies!
Thank you all for your kind words last weeks Hump Day! Hubby and I were a bit under the weather but now it's better. We have been to Florence for a few days. Wonderful and beautiful city. I'am overwhelmed every time I visit Florence.
I hope you all are healthy and in good shape. Happy day to you all.
Evelyne
Last night when the old 'caretaker' came to see me about all the doings with those creepy guys at my door, I had an epiphany. Yup, since they were obviously NOT real and probably sent by the creepy con guy to find out info (I reread my notes and too many things pointed to him) I realized that they may have been gathering names and addresses so they could serve us with papers. Caretaker had mentioned a few weeks back that the old guy (with prompting from con guy) said 'nobody can keep ME out of MY house'. 'I'll have them arrested, I'll sue them'. Yup, remembered that. Put it together with they wanted ME to tell them addresses and phone numbers of the caretaker guy and the gal who was boxing up all the junk and cleaning out the hoarded house, and we have...info to serve papers to all of us. Especially when they tried to get me to tell them my last name. Oh yes. This fits.
I'm hoping con guy does try something like filing a complaint against all of us. I have so much documentation (police reports, pictures, 'diary' of events) which I keep when things happen. I'd love to chat with a DA or someone's lawyer about it all. Loads of witnesses just next door and across the street who also know everything. Not to mention, I called various 'officials' each time and they will have a record of me reporting suspicious doings AND that license plate of the guy who let 2 women ransack the house and who the police didn't do anything about. OH and I forgot. AFter that incident a 357 magnum gun turned up missing. The living room area (which the caretaker slept in just a few nights before trying to catch someone breaking in) knew it was there, knew exactly where it was, and after the 2 women incident, the gun was gone and the living room area was, according to his words, 'tossed'. Fun. If it happens, we shall soon see who gets their hand slapped for trying to defraud the old guy.
WARNING! This person is extremely blonde...please type SLOWLY.
Good morning all.
Can't stay as it is time to fix lunch, or at least, to start it.
It is a rainy Friday and Cory says it sucks, especially the thunder. Hasn't been for his walk yet.
We just got back from Sam's. Had to pick up cat litter. Then I put my last load of laundry in the washer.
I'm off to start lunch. wave
Good morning boomies! I have to flyby for now. I have to get Peter from the custom shop place where he has to drop his car off for repairs on work they did.
My Zumba instructor took today off and they had the water Zumba instructor instead so my workout partner talked me into going into the other studio for a weight training class instead. I pulled out my three sets of weights and she replaced them all with bigger ones. Sadly, there is no crying in class so I had to save it for after. rotfl Oh My, am I hurting!
Tomorrow we have a 2 hour charity dance so I am sure I will loosen up then. lol
be back
Fantastic Friday afternoon ya'll puppy
I so could not sleep last night. I even took a sleeping pill but no matter how tightly I clamped my eyes shut, sleep remained elusive. Once I feel asleep (about the time the sun came up I think) I slept great!
Boys are and son is trying to talk them into a nap.
Hubby is counting the hours. He has Monday off so this is a 3 day weekend for him.
Back later wave
Good morning, Joe and Gameboomers wave
It's 81 here and sunny. Made good use of my time while I had my car rental. Unfortunately, the library wasn't open when I went. Will have to go back next chance I get.
I'm in a very lazy, don't want to deal with anything mood. I shopped till I dropped Wednesday and Thursday am. Definitely have enough food for the month and probably a lot longer than that. (I have food issues). Believe I have enough soda to last through the month and maybe longer. Also bought enough supplies to last a month. Anything else will have to be dealt with on an as needed basis. So that's one less worry thumbsup
Good news is my hands are better, no more trouble typing.
Wishing all health and happiness and an enjoyable weekend. Like Ana's my floors will be getting a good wash this weekend. Also must move furniture to vacuum under it. Found a couple lost things when I moved my sofa looking for something else. Definitely need to do a little deeper cleaning this weekend. lol
Time here to think about getting ready so the taxi can make it's run and then off to donate my time working the fish fry at the Moose!!
Have a wonderful afternoon and evening all!!
Ana hope the weights effect don't hinder the floor cleaning. lol We still have those 26mph winds gusting to 40! I think it's trying to make the trees look bear. lol
Evelyne so glad that both you and hubby are feeling better now. HUGS!! Glad you had a nice vacation to Florence.
Sharon glad the running around is done and you are well stocked for the month!!
