I was going to be so good and not ask for help, but I have now tried 4 times to lay the planks over the maze in the Haunted house, can you tell me if Sherlock says anything when you stand left of the sheet and look at the maze? I found this very difficult to do and only really doable in 1st person, I am 90% sure that I have opened the right doors and I am getting to know the maze inside out, but when I return and lay the first plank and Sherlock walks out I can no longer get the hotspots to lay the planks, I am assuming that it is because I have got the doors wrong, also did you find it easier to do this in 1st person or third? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr hardwall

Hi monbron,

I find first person better than third when it comes to hotspots.

No, Holmes doesn't say anything. After you've placed the first plank and climbed out, there will be a huge gap ahead of you if you haven't slid the correct door across. If you're sure you've moved the right door, move your cursor around the area slowly to find the hotspot for the next plank -- it might be at your feet, or further ahead on top of the next door edge. luck

Ok round 5, since I am pretty sure there is a huge gap at the first plank, so obviously I am opening the wrong door - Thanks Rushes urock

MaG's walkthrough has a screenshot of the finished layout, if you need a quick visual nudge without specific directions.

Good luck and let us know if you still have problems!

Ah Ha, I was doing it right but I could only get to lay the planks in 1st person, however I have now finished the game - Excellant and it seemed a lot longer than the others. sherlock

I forgot to say that I found I could move between different views i.e. 1st and 3rd etc., by clicking my mouse wheel.

Glad you found what the problem was, and that you finished (and enjoyed!) the game. Yes, it's the longest game of the series without a doubt.

First person: Directly playing the character, looking through their eyes, unable to see them onscreen except for cut scenes.

Third person with keyboard/mouse: An over-the-shoulder perspective, seeing your character from the back, controlling with keyboard/mouse.

Third person point & click: Seeing your character anywhere on screen, moving him around by point & click.

Thanks so much Rushes. Second one is with the keyboard and mouse but the wasd keys won't work. The other views work.

Only just spotted your edit, Richard. If the WASD keys don't work, the arrow keys should. (I never bother with WASD, I'm an arrow fan. lol )

It's also possible to edit controls from main menu.
