Hi, Marian!

I just downloaded the demo and, based on the reviews at BFG, will probably use my 2 Game Club Credits to buy it. I played and enjoyed the first 3 in the series and really enjoyed them, so I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Just got started. Nice game. Would like to know if it's necessary to buy items for the dog in order to complete the game. Or is it just something added for fun?

Sparkle, I have a feeling it's just something added for fun, but we will need to wait for someone else to confirm this. wave

Have you checked the tips in the beginning of the guide? It may say something about it.

All it says in the General Tips is that you can collect chips to buy things for the dog in the shop.

Bummer. From what I can tell on other forums it is just for entertainment. You can watch Elf interact with the purchased items.

Hi, Ana and Marian!

I just finished the demo and it's a definite buy for me. I skipped a few of the puzzles because I wanted to explore as much of the game as I could within the hour allotted, and some of the puzzles look like they'll take a while to solve.

Am really enjoying this game. But find it kind of odd that the solutions to the combination locks are posted on the locks. Usually it's necessary to find the combination somewhere else and write it down or refer to a journal. Plenty of other puzzles to solve. I just thought this was sort of unusual.

That is odd. Maybe I will be able to solve more of the puzzles in this game without having to hit the skip button instead. idea wave

I hope I haven't reached a dead end in this game. I didn't notice the safe code in the lair before I destroyed the bedroom door. Now, I can't open the safe even using the strategy guide, and the board with the code is nowhere to be seen. I suspect I needed to click on the code to trigger the safe puzzle but I didn't. Will I need to start over? Please tell me no. cry

I hope someone can help, Barb. I'm not seeing anything about this on the Big Fish forum, and I haven't played this game yet. Fingers crossed that it's not a glitch. wave

I think I had the same problem. Did you check your inventory? Look around some more. I've finished the game and don't recall exactly how I got the code. But I had the same reaction as you, thinking I should have written down the code. You shouldn't have to start over. Wish I could be more helpful. Don't despair. It's around somewhere. I just can't remember exactly where. Sorry.

I appreciate your help, too, Sparkle. It's not only that I didn't write down the code, I never even saw it to click on it, which usually triggers something in games. I'll just keep my fingers crossed and keep playing and hoping the code shows up. I did see one post in BFG asking about this problem but so far no answer. I'll keep checking there as well.

Hi, Cappy!

I believe most of the codes are already waiting for you when it comes time to open something so, if you can't open the safe, the code must be hiding somewhere else and you need to solve a puzzle to uncover it. Did you check the map to see if there are any tasks or objectives in other locations that you still have to complete? I just finished the game and don't remember running into any glitches so, if nothing shows up on your map, try clicking on the "Hint" button to see if that helps.

Thanks, Susan. So far nothing seems to be missing so maybe you are correct and I'll be able to open it later. However, the strategy guide said the code was on the door which I demolished to get into the bedroom. Oh, well. Probably the only thing in that safe is another pile of doggie dollars anyway. lol

Hi, Cappy!

You're probably right about the doggie dollars because I don't think the game would have allowed you to demolish the door before it recognized that you had discovered the code to open the safe. Does the Strategy Guide say there was anything else in the safe?

The doggie dollars are only used to buy things for your little friend, so collecting them all isn't necessary to finish the game.

Enjoy the rest of the game.

Susan

I just finished this game and loved it.

I was trying desperately to remember what other game I played where you collected the coins....it's Surface: The noise she couldn't make (another fantastic game) you just used the coins to decorate the office, no big deal for me.

Well, I just finished this game successfully and whatever was in that safe in the lair remains there. I never did open it. Maybe I'll find out what was in there when I replay the game someday. Thanks for all your help and encouragement, folks. kissy
