If you're worried about losing them again, copy them instead of moving them.

How is the Snap Feature used Drac? I've never heard of it.

Let's say you have a flash drive with a file you want to transfer to your Documents file in Windows 7. You open up Documents; grab it at the top and drag it to either the right or left of your screen' once your cursor touches the edge of the screen, the window will "snap" to exactly 1/2 of the screen. Then you go to Computer and open up your flash drive; grab it at the top and drag it to the opposite side of your screen; once your cursor touches the edge of the screen, it will "snap" to exactly 1/2 of the screen just like the other window. Now you have two windows open, with each one occupying exactly 1/2 half of your screen. Now you can see exactly what is in each folder and can drag and drop between them or whatever else you want to do.

So what's the difference between doing that and just hitting the minimize button on each of those files?

Btw, I tried it and the screen doesn't divide exactly in half. I get more like a quarter page top to bottom and slightly over half the window side to side.

Gil.

Here's a video showing how it's supposed to work.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSgGtYnA4hQ

Here are instructions showing how to turn it on or off.

I don't find it terribly useful because I generally have more than two windows open when I'm working.

It's definitely not useful for having multiple windows open, but if you need to compare two documents or would like to work in two folders - such as dragging and dropping - it is probably one of the features I use most often in Windows 7 and Windows 8. This is another video from Microsoft that shows how to use it...

It took the videos for me to understand how to use snap. That's pretty neat. I can see how it'd be quicker transferring files from one folder to another going the snap route.

Thanks for the information Drac and Jenny.

Shake is another interesting feature, but one which is not useful for me. If you have numerous windows open, you can "shake" the one you want and all the rest will minimize.

Nice tip about "Shake", Draclvr! I use the "Snap" feature all the time and I love it!
I've got to go fill up my screen and give the "Shake" a try. smile

Not sure I'd need the Shake feature, I rarely have more than two open at a time.
