Believe it or not, I'm still trying to get that cannonball out of the cage in order to use it on the cannon in chapter one on the ship. I have tried to combine everything in my inventory in every way possible to get that cannonball. Of course, I'm missing something here. Can someone lend me a hand here so that I can progress in this game. I would be much obliged.
Sandy

BTW, I hope you are feeling better by now, Mag

Richard,

Sorry - no saves since I was just playing all over.
Didn't have any problem with that table puzzle.
There are several steps to that puzzle - I didn't write anything down yet since I will replay sometime later.
- start with clicking on the buttons that look like the points of the star at center. That should light up and Nate will say something.
- click to turn the outer ring until some of those lines connect to the center. It will turn red and Nate will say something.
- do the middle ring.
- then do the inner ring.
Now the central cylinder comes up.

You need to look for 5 lines similar to the ones shown outside on the cylinder. Click the appropriate button.

Sandy - Check your e-mail.
No - still sickiepoo.

Thanks for the hint,FrkBrok. My problem is that I can't fire at anything because I don't have "ammunition" for the cannon. I assume this ammunition is the cannonball which is still stuck in the cage. And what is the "ork" you have mentioned? How do I get that cannonball?
Thanks,
Sandy

YAY! I finally did it. I put the cotton ball in the cannon, and fired again (as you stated). The "blast" pushed the cannonball out of the bars of the cage. Now I'm moving along, thanks to YOU.

Sandy you don't need the cannon ball in the cage. Did you use the cotton in the cannon.

Thanks so much, Mag. You ARE the BEST.

Richard, with a little help from all of you, I put the cotton into the cannon, and from there I figured out the rest. Thanks so much.

I was not able to take the ship out of the bottle (in the ship's cabin) so I couldn't do another dialogue with "Mary", but thanks to MAG, i was able to put the symbols in the right order anyway to open the hatch and move on. Happy Gaming.

I'm going bonkers with the star point puzzle. I've looked at the walkthrough and all the postings on here, got the 5 correct triangles lit and therefore the inner-most circle also lights up....the very small circle which isn't actually part of the maze. I've twiddled around and around but cannot get the outer circle to light up let alone the others. I did fiddle with it as Critter so now have no idea what the original starting positions were. Does that make any difference? I just keep turning and turning to no avail. HELP! insane

No - the starting position doesn't really matters as long as you light up each ring.

The wt states only the numbers of clicks and position when you start from not touching the puzzle first.
Try clicking each ring until they light up and then work from there until all rings are red.

OK now I'm totally confused. I think I'm playing in hard mode. Finally got the maze to light up and the cylinder to rise. I then got the hand icon and picked up the "dull and tarnished" cylinder. There were no lit up symbols as in the WT. No odd shaped piece of metal. I tried putting the cylinder back onto the table and can't so I have no idea what to do now. help

To pick up the metal piece - you should click-look at the secret compartment on that table. See also if you have the metal piece in your inventory. Keep us posted.

Phew. Got the odd shaped piece of metal. Had to give the cylinder to Critter and he was able to put it back. But.....there were no symbols as in the WT. The squares were just about visible but no lines in them. Anyway I'm there now thanks to the pics in your WT. Without those I wouldn't have had any clue as to which buttons to press as the cylinder was not lit up.

Ok guy's, I finished the game on normal difficulty so I thought why not give it a go on hard.

Sailed through the first chapter with little problem and now find myself totally stuck in chapter two. Santa will not make his appointed rounds.

I've exhausted every conversation path available. Checked every hot spot I can find but without the hourglass and sock I'm at a dead end. I Would certainly appreciate some suggestions please

I thought there was a ball of yarn on the chair beside the fireplace - can you knit a sock or something the like?

-----------
I found a walkthrough here
that states:
Hang the STOCKING (from Petra at the Ice Sheet) on the right hook at the top of the fireplace.
Try to walk out the door to start the cut scene.
Click the STOCKING above the fireplace to retrieve it and the PACKAGE it was containing.
Open the PACKAGE to find the HOURGLASS and the WRAPPING PAPER.

Thanks MaG, it appears to be a totally different game in hard mode. Probably much to hard for my limited brain power.

Oh - I guess sometime I have to play the game in hard mode then. I will have to redownload the game after the holidays.
Hopefully that walkthrough is hard mode and that can get you through. holidays
