Hello

I am having such problems with the games Adam Venture,1,2 and 3 I bought all three as I liked the look of them they looked like fun. The third game came first. The characters were difficult to maneuver. When he arrived in Luz and he had dragged the crate to the lift he has to climb several ladders. He would go up stop at the top and go back down! I found that holding my finger pressed on the up arrow for several minutes he finally decided to climb up. Then he came to a gap between two roof tops and he has to run and jump over the gap. He runs, he jumps and is left hanging on the opposite roofs' guttering. I have "walked" him along the whole length of the gutter jumping at each stop but he just jumps and hangs 'til I press Ctrl and he lets go, screams and disappears into a void. I am using Windows 7. Is that the problem do you think? the second game was even worse, I haven't opened the third as so upset. Can you help please?

I notice in ***your Hints thread*** that you said
Quote:
My son added a registry cleaner on to my computer and after that the game no longer alowed me to crouch and jump, now I am stuck on the roof! No matter what I do he just jumps and hangs!

It sounds like the registry cleaner fouled things up. Which registry cleaner was it? You may have to uninstall and reinstall the game if the registry cleaner deleted part of the game's registry settings. Which registry cleaner was it?

It was worse before the registry cleaner was added. But i could crouch and jump over the gap before. Then I got to the last but one puzzle before the checkpoint and he wouldn't climb the last ladder no matter how long I held. So I had to close which of course put me back to the roof gap. Now it does not work when I make him crouch. The registry cleaner was synctech or some such, I think.

Even though the requirements are fairly low, it is a 3D game. Does your video card have at least 256MB (Discrete memory if it’s an integrated processor)?

Sorry I am no computer buff and can be no help to you with the internal workings of same. I am working from a lap top and is just over one year old. All my graphics etc are up to date further than I cannot say sorry. Is there any hope? Would it run better on a PC mine is a XP but is sick and away at the hospital at the moment?

If the desktop PC has a real video card with its own discrete video memory, then it will probably work a LOT better.

The latest drivers won't suddenly make onboard graphics have 256MB of discrete memory. If the laptop doesn't have graphics with discrete memory, there's not a lot you can do.

You can find out whether your graphics has discrete video memory or not by running dxdiag. Here's a site that has pictures telling you how to run dxdiag
http://forum.wildgames.com/topic/18740-how-do-i-create-a-dxdiag-and-send-it-to-customer-support/

Follow the instructions up to Step #7. Then instead of going to the wildgames.com website, open the dxdiag.txt file in Notepad (double-click it and it should open in Notepad). Copy the contents and "paste" into a forum post in this thread. Or just email the dxdiag.txt file to one of us and we'll post it for you. Then we can tell you if your laptop graphics meets the game's requirements.

Laptops will almost always have integrated video processors. The easiest way to locate the specs is to run DXDiag.

Press the Windows Logo Key+R, enter DXDIAG and press OK. When it completes select the Display tab and post the info back in a reply.

It may play better on your XP box, it all depends on the specs.

My son was following your directions to the letter, and for some inexplicable reason he decided to go his own way and accelerated my graphics. All is well, no more erratic movements, ladders climbed without extreme pain to the fingers. I am well on the way to the end of the game and have come upon another problem, but that is not for you but the hints etc. So thank you all for your time and patience.........for now, don't forget I have three of these! See you soon no doubt.
