Christmas! The very word brings joy to our hearts. No matter how we may dread the rush, the long Christmas lists for gifts and cards to be bought and given--when Christmas Day comes there is still the same warm feeling we had as children, the same warmth that enfolds our hearts and our homes."
~ Joan Winmill Brown, American author and editor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two young boys were spending the night at their grandparents. At bedtime, the two boys knelt beside their beds to say their prayers when the youngest one began praying at the top of his lungs.
"I PRAY FOR A NEW BICYCLE...
I PRAY FOR A NEW NINTENDO...
I PRAY FOR A NEW VCR..."
His older brother leaned over and nudged the younger brother and said, "Why are you shouting your prayers? God isn't deaf." To which the little brother replied, "No, but Gramma is!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In a small Southern town there was a "Nativity Scene" that showed great skill and talent had gone into creating it. One small feature bothered me. The three wise men were wearing firemen's helmets. Totally unable to come up with a reason or explanation, I left.

At a "Quick Stop" on the edge of town, I asked the lady behind the counter about the helmets. She exploded into a rage, yelling at me, "You [blip] Yankees never do read the Bible!" I assured her that I did, but simply couldn't recall anything about firemen in the Bible. She jerked her Bible from behind the counter and ruffled through some pages, and finally jabbed her finger at a passage. Sticking it in my face she said
"See, it says right here, 'The three wise man came from afar.'"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A boy begs his father to get him a Christmas tree this year.
Each year, the boy asks and the father tells him, "I don't
want to pay for it."
But the son kept begging. Unable to bear his son's whining,
he picks up his axe one day and heads out of the house.
Thirty minutes later he returns with a great big Christmas tree. "How did you cut it down so fast?" his son asks.
"I didn't cut it down," the father replies.
"I got it at a tree lot."
"Then why did you bring an axe?"
"Because I didn't want to pay."
Merry Christmas Joe, SpaceQ, Nan, Anne and all who follow.
It's a regular day here for me, Peter just left to head down to the city to spend Christmas with his dad, grandpa and family and Sam and Tim went home, so just hubby and the youngest left here. It was a wonderful Christmas Eve and I am also glad it's over for another year.
I got a gift card for a massages at Platinum Spa from hubby since I found my favorite masseuse there. I lost her about 18 months ago when she left my club and I ran into her at the grocery store. I was so excited to see her because she is the best anywhere! I can't wait to get a real massage again! Color me a very happy girl!
Nan, I am sending my guardian angel to watch over you on the road.
Have a blessed day! hearts
Good Christmas morning to you all my friends
christmas
Nan: shall the Band be around you on your way out of town!
I need a little prayer from you my friends: my Dad is in hospital again since Dec 23 and last night he had a pulmonary embolism and Doc called my Mum at 2.30 a.m. to ask whether she want "extension of life" activities for him. She said yes. I don't know what that means, at the age of 91. I keep in phone contact with her and maybe I have to drive back to Switzerland. So please, could you say a prayer for my Dad. Thank you very much!
Have a wonderful day my friends!
Evelyne
And a Merry Christmas good morning to everyone here! Sounds like a nice quiet day for many others besides us. We did our Christmas dinner with just hubby and me yesterday and some friends stopped by for a couple of hours last night. We will be having Christmas with our kids and grandkids on Friday because hubby's daughter will be here from the east coast. I will make the annual homemade Christmas pizza for them!
Gimli, I send good thoughts for your dad. My mom had a double pulmonary embolism 2 years ago at age 87 and she is doing fine. They are blood clots to the lungs and are very serious. It's hard to know what might happen, but I'm sure his doctors are taking good care of him.
Gardens put to bed for the winter. Time for some gaming!
Good morning boomies and christmas ! I tried to sleep in especially after getting to bed in the wee hours but Shadow is not feeling well for the second day now so I made some trips to let him him out to go potty and then finally gave up when he decided to be ill in my bedroom. A rude awakening to say the least. lol12
Evelyne, prayers to you, and your dad and mom. Peter had a pulmonary embolism last year, they are very scary to say the least.
Merry Christmas to all....Life is good.
Prayers for you dad Evelyne.
So happy merry Christmas to everyone. Hope Santa (or someone else) got you just what you wanted. I do Christmas on Christmas Eve. Saves getting up early. Got a nice pair of heat in the microwave footies. Tried them out. You can't stand or walk in them without great bodily harm, but they sure keep the feet warm when you are watching TV.
Also got..tada..a Panasonic LUMIX DMC-SZ7 tiny little camera. It's awesome! Does everything. Now I just have to watch the disc that came with it to figure out how to use it. Fun. It's going to replace my OLD Canon huge antique (3x zoom)hehehe. I never thought of getting a new modern updated do everything much better HD and all that camera with 10X zoom. Nope, but my friend (who always gives me electronics for Christmas) did. NICE. I'm thrilled. Took some pics last night and this morning after tons of button pushing, I managed to actually SEE them. I've gotta watch that disc! And this mega zoom function will allow me to spy on Sorta's Neighborhood even better. rotfl12
Sorta, I have a Lumix DMC-ZS8. It's my second Lumix and I love it. I take it everywhere with me. Have a great day!
Hello everybody. santa
I'm back from Mom's, it's 27 degrees and the rain has turned to snow. winter penguin
I had a nice morning, got some nice gifts, had a GREAT turkey dinner, and now I will try and enjoy an afternoon of gaming or something. bravo12
It rained over an inch before starting to snow, so I'm already looking forward to some new head hunting when it dries up. sherlock
I hope your day is special. christmas
