Can't seem to locate in the big lab (electronics everywhere!) a "dead cat", is it on the floor near that door left of the Voltage wall? Not that I'm anxious to see such a thing, but it annoys me when I can't locate something from the walkthrough, this time, can't figure out where to look specifically. And if Nancy makes a comment about it then I am missing something. Help me please Thanks
Love, Betty Lou
Happy New Year everyone, stay safe tomorrow night

Betty Lou,

Dead cat? There are parts of a robot cat all over in this game.
Nancy might not say anything or if they are active - but later in the game you will collect them.

As for the one beside the voltage wall: it should be a pinkish object on the left side. I thought I had a picture of it - I will look for one.
Ah - you might not be able to collect it at this time but will later - try though.

Well, several things to "address" - I keep seeing ()notations about "in the bonus game only" and collecting phone charms or something, and I guess I don't have the "bonus game" so no charms for me in this game. The walkthrough says "check the high voltage machines at the corner wall. There is a cat body left of the high voltage wall" and I cannot see or find it. I am not supposed to "collect" it just see it. Not sure if it makes any difference or not for something later on. I assume a cat was either deliberately electrocuted or got there accidently and got zapped. Not sure how this fits the story about a possible murder. See ya later, gater.

Hi Betty Lou,

The phone charms are only available in Her Interactive's download version.

The "cat" is a robotic one, as MaG mentioned above, and is scattered around the facility in small parts that can eventually be collected and assembled. So just keep your eyes peeled for anything robotic-looking.

Aha, I found it. It was right where it ought to be but I did not recognize it as a cat part, looked like a brown safety helmet on that machine next to the voltage wall. Got it now and thanks - Happy New Year

New problem, have made it to Security room, viewed video showing Niko and Grey at lab night of explosion and have returned to my room, set clock and when it finishes and I arise (Nancy) the alarm is not ringing as it had in the beginning of the game, and when I get up and leave there is no unlocking of my door etc - have redone this section several times and seem to be missing something that "triggers" my being locked in my room - don't know what else to do to "get on with it".
Also, have checked the 'printer' for the part I built and when I built it according to the images in the w/t and printed it out I said I Did It! but when I retrieve the part it is not right - how can this be? Nancy said she did it (right) and yet it isn't - a glitch in my game or is it me missing something yet again?

Yes, have set the alarm for day (sun) and upon waking up there is no clock alarm ringing as there was before, so I go out play another Aggregation game, fool around some, make phone calls, set clock back to night and try again, no alarm, set clock back to day and no alarm, no locked door, no sounds of anyone having unlocked the door and running away - and when I go to talk to Ellie there is no blue tool chest for me to look at/into in her office. It's late and I will be back here and into the game sometime tomorrow and get back to you. I'm sorta stuck but tired now

If the part that you constructed in the printer looks a big messy blob, then you'll need to redo it, regardless of what Nancy says. (I had the same problem!) Did Nancy confirm that the design was correct before you started printing? Be sure to leave enough time for it to "print". luck

Yes, it was a blob sorta resembled but not clear the design it was supposed to look like. And maybe I took it out too soon? Would that too make it look like that? When I picked up Nancy did not say anything like Oh darn must do it again (at least I don't recall that she did) I think I will go back to the save where I had just finished it and try from there again. Thanks for the 'tips'

You might need to replay from making the design. Nancy should say: I think that's right.

She did Mag. I seem to be "stuck" lying in bed waiting for the alarm to sound to wake me but nothing is happening. I set the alarm from (whatever it was) to Sun/day and upon sun rising nothing is happening. How do I "trigger" getting locked into my bedroom and hearing someone unlock the door? I may need a saved game for this as I don't seem to be able to proceed. darn, was hoping I could get thru this one on my own too. I'm playing 'amateur' BTW
Love, Betty Lou
P.S. Thanks for the help

Check what is in your To Do list. You might have missed some stuff in the security room or at the offices upstairs. smile

I also had to redo my "part". I was sure I had done it corectly the first time, but it looked like a blob when I took it out of the printer. When I redid it, I realized the platform the part was resting on wasn't facing the right direction. The bottom edges have different colors, so even if the part is constructed correctly, if it isn't facing the right colored edge, it won't work.

how do/did you determine which is the correct edge color to start with?
Love, Betty Lou
I see, just looked again at the W/t. BUT you know what I GIVE UP! Please someone send me a saved game for right after making the pattern for that dern part so I can "get on with it". Thanks much, don't like this part of this "story"/game.

OK Mag, I have deleted the 1st wrong one, but am stuck = I know where the file is for this game, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to "copy/paste" your two files into mine - this "new" Yahoo way of doing things is not very helpful. Can you step me thru the process to copy/paste into my NDDD file? Thanks. Be back after church today

Sorry Mag, I was not too clear about what I cannot do - I have the email, (Yahoo) and when I left click on "download all" it brings up the download square (don't know what to call it) and when I try to fix the place to download it to [type in desktop] and go to OK it downloads it to ?somewhere? but it does not show up on my desktop. I used to be able to right click on the download files and copy/paste them to the desktop but that no longer seems to work. I try several different ways to get those 2 files into The Deadly Device folder in Desktop\Documents\The Deadly Device and they just don't show up there. I know I am just being dense about it but have had a lot of trouble lately (my mental problem or Yahoo's for changing the way they do things in my email?) downloading files so I can use them print them etc. Got any ideas for me that I might try?
Thanks Love, Betty Lou

It might be in the Download folder in Documents. See if it is there.

If not - let's wait for someone with Yahoo mail since I have never used it. laugh

I got it! The trick is to right click on the .doc in the square box and then it can "copy" & paste to wherever, in this case Desktop and do it to each of those 2 squares and that way it works. If you left click on the word 'download' it downloads but I haven't a clue where it downloads to have not been able to find it then. So I accomplished the 'task' (on a different computer with WIN98) and copied it from desktop to a flash drive so I can move it to my laptop with VISTA where the game is.
Thanks much for your patience. I don't know why such a simple procedure turns out to be so difficult and maybe it is because I tried to download it before on my VISTA.Onward and upwards!!!
