I've never had much luck getting rid of stuttering sound when it happens. On XP you might have been able to reduce it by turning down audio acceleration. But in Vista, Win7, and later, there is no hardware audio acceleration so there's nothing you can turn down. Sometimes turning down video acceleration will reduce audio stuttering, but whether you have that option available in Win7 depends on your drivers.

euts.exe is the name of the game executable.
e=evil, u=under, t=the, s=sun, exe=executable

So it's saying it stopped working because of itself. Big help that. razz

The sound problem may have been the first indication it was going to crash.

Are you playing it in compatibility mode? Sometimes that helps. Besides setting compatibility to XP (or 2000), make sure desktop composition and visual themes are disabled on the compatibility tab.

And if you have an antivirus, make sure it's not conflicting with the game.

Thanks, I wasn't sure where to find compatibility mode, but I found it by right clicking on the icon and then going into Properties, is this correct? thanks

Also it looks as if I will have to restart the game because all my saves have disappeared, presumably 'cos I have switched to XP??

Yes. In Windows 7 you can set compatibility in the shortcut icon on your desktop.

Evil Under the Sun on Windows 7 probably puts its saves in a different location than XP. For example, XP often puts saved games in your My Documents folder, but Windows 7 often puts them in a subfolder of the C:\Users\your-username\AppData\Roaming folder. Sometimes game saves include the save location, so don't work between XP and Windows 7 computers. Other times all you need to do is copy the saves to the correct location for your operating system. I'm not sure which it is for this game.

No, you don't select Properties when you right click. You select Troubleshoot Compatibility and follow the prompts.

You can see pictorial instructions for both methods on this page
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html

If one doesn't work, try the other one.

Right well Draclvr's way didn't work so I will try Jenny100's way and replay it I will also fire off an e mail to The adventure Company techies and see if they can help, thanks for all you help and we willl see what transpires - I will let you know. crazy

Huh No I won't they don't exist any more they are part of g4 who do not appear to have a tech advice address!! duh

Ok have tried everything, have now uninstalled and reinstalled but same problem, do you think installing it somewhere other than progX86 ie just prog files would help?
