Please help this highly rated Myst-like adventure get on Steam by voting Here.
It's a great way you can make a difference without costing you a dime and help them get the funding they need to continue developing more games.

Of course, you can also purchase the game here: www.aspaceadventure.fr

Quote:
ASA is a Myst-like adventure game, even if it's first a personal experiment. It's a kind of sequel to my short film 2011: A Space Adventure, which received good reviews and was selected by the Vimeo Staff. But I would recommend you don't watch it before playing the game, or it would spoil you !

The game is available on www.aspaceadventure.fr

What is ASA ???
ASA is now a 1st-person slideshow adventure game with 3D graphisms, released on january the 7th.
This is a solo project, and the game was rated 15/20 on the french magazine jeuxvideo.com
Many people could tell you that ASA is very challenging !

English reviews :

http://indiestatik.com/2012/12/24/a-weekend-with-asa-a-space-adventure/

Story :
"You're an astronaut sent to repair an old satellite. You just finished your mission when you notice a mysterious black cube drifting near you. You're totally hypnotized by this thing and suddenly jump in the space, breaking your security cable ! That's crazy, you seem to have forgotten all the dangers here, and when you finally catch this cube... your oxygen is low and you have no way to go back !!!
But strangely, to you, the most important is that you have this Cube in your arms, and that you won't drop it until you're dead ! It now seems so important and fascinating... "

Features :

- visit 9 different environments (6 areas on the main spaceship, 2 planets, 1 satellite)

- benefits of ponctual 360° views for a better immersion.

- the game presents various 3D movies and is rythmed with an original soundtrack by Karreo.

- walk in the steps of another astronaut, who will help you to find your way. Read his diary to find clues and make the storyline evolve.

Thanks, "BrownEyedTigre".
I hope that he receives enough support, to continue his good work.
The game was made "with passion during months."
Anyone who likes "Myst" and "Riven", would probably enjoy this game.

The earlier thread is Here .

Thanks to GreyFuss, I found the "blog", Here .

On Greenlight, onnly the owner of the game can see the status when he's connected... I'm around 50% of the votes and it didn't increase for a while :S

Why do people want to get games onto Steam etc? Does it just benefit the Game Developer or does it generally make the games more affordable for the gamers themselves?

I don't know if this is the real meaning of it but I think it gives the game a lot of exposure to the gaming community that they might not get on their own.

There are portals that have a good reputation of paying royalties to developers, Steam and BigFish are two of those that do that, not to mention huge exposure. All of this gets money in the developers pocket which enables them to create more games and put food on their table.

That's a good summary Ana laugh
JoAJ, if you want things to be even more simple : being on Steam allows developpers to think of their future !

See my example : right now, I'm not on any portals so it's hard to find people who ever heard of ASA. That's the reason why I sold less than 100 copies of the game yet. If I could make more communication around ASA and increase the sells, I could first refund the price of the softwares I used - which are very expensive - and then save money to create a new game. Until now, I'm still not earning money from my sells because of the development costs.

So in the current situation, I have no idea if I will continue to make games in the future.
I hope you understand the interest of being on Steam ! wink

And to those that don't understand, as I have witnessed in the last few days elsewhere, getting through Greenlight does not mean they earn any money for that, it just means they can get their game released via Valve. They still need to sell copies to get royalties. It is very important to get the exposure, especially for an Indie that needs to create a following.

I hope you will be able to continue making games Simon.

Exactly ! Steam is a catalogue where you buy the games of your choice, so being selected by Valve just gives more visibility. The trouble is that most Steam users buy action games.
So for indie dev who made an adventure game, it's still very difficult to make money.

Thanks Ana and LeBelleRachael for your support and the votes !
