I'm not sure, but I think "Green" was in the original rhyme, but there are variations that have last names for the bad boy that rhyme with "in" - like Flynn and Thin. I like "Thin" because it goes with the last name of the nice boy who pulled her out (Stout). Or maybe a good substitute is grin

I've heard it with a couple of different names but your point of a connection between "thin" and "stout" makes a lot of sense.
