I'm having trouble with liking this game and I'm not very far on with it.
The graphics looked gorgeous on the screen shots but the characters are in plain white relief in my game. Is this me or should they be like this?
I'm not usually keen on third person games nor on lots of dialogue so I feel I may have made a bad choice even though the story sounded charming in the reviews. I'm finding the conversations intermineable even though the voice acting is very good. Do they continue like this?
I'm finding lots of inventory items but haven't come across any puzzles so far. Are there any?
Perhaps someone can advise. If this game isn't going to be my thing I'd rather just pass it on to someone who will enjoy it.

I don't recall any mini-games in there but I know there are inventory puzzles. I am sorry you don't care for it, I thought it was a really cute game.

No, the characters should not be in "plain white relief". Something's wrong. There are a lot of inventory puzzles, you can't get anywhere without solving them. A doozy is the mirror puzzle. As for mini-games...woo hoo, get ready for the rain dance. I'd call that a mini-game. Gives your fingers a workout, anyway. <g>

HI, meryl

This game you have to become accustomed to..

First off you have to like humor..

Second you have to like cartoon characters..

As far as the dialog....I find you can click through it if you like....But....Most talk is worth listening to.... It tells you what you need to do next...

I love any game that has lots of inventory to play with.....Puzzles are mostly inventory based....

If your looking for hard puzzles...This is not the game for you...

All said.....I loved the game....Got stuck a few times....Had lots of fun with it.... happydance

Luv Dar

There is a lot of talking in this game... I usually don't like that ... but with this one I enjoyed the conversations.. but that rain dance.... I almost could not do it.
If you are not liking the conversations... it is not going to get any better. Too bad though cause I did like the game.

Well thank you everyone.
I'm going to go over to Glitches to see if anyone can help me with the "characters in plain white relief" problem.
It's very odd as the characters are two dimensional plain white and the surroundings are normal - 3 dimensional and in colour.
If I could solve this bit I might be able to appreciate the game a bit more. I hate to give up on anything without giving it a good go!

GOG also has it available, DRM free. That's where I got mine. smile

I got mine on GOG too. smile

My girlfriend and I really liked this game. We've both played a fair few adventure games; we especially like playing them together since they're perfectly paced for playing while snuggling. I thought it was wonderfully funny, and the characters are often strangely inspiring (especially Wilbur). I think it's now one of her favourite adventure games laugh

That said, do try to fix that glitch you have. It wouldn't be much fun if the characters were all weirdly whited out.

Went over to Glitches and the problem is my old video card. I'm sure I will like this game more with that fixed.
Having thought about it, one of my favourite games was The abbey. That had cartoon characters and was third person.
So many people think this game is Ace. I'm going to uprate a few things - it may be the ancient computer totally - so i don't keep having a problem with modern games.

Ah, hope the upgrades don't cost too much. smile

I had a look at the Abbey and I must say, I do like the art style, especially the backgrounds. Very atmospheric!

Oh, I thought that's in chapter 1, where you have to fix a mirror so the light will go to the cellar... had a showstopping bug there...
