Am I strange or out of touch with the new trends? I used to really enjoy the series of adventure games titled Chronicles of Mystery, the tree of life, The Scorpio Ritual, and several others which I found to be challenging and entertaining. Then the author began to issue new releases that incorporated hidden objects.
Who I ask? Could possible enjoy looking at a stagnate screen in order to pick out objects? I find it extremely boring.
Big Fish games has numerous games in the adventure category but all I must say include the ridiculers hidden objects sections.
I would appreciate any comments along this subject.
Thank you

There are a lot of people that like casual games -- hidden objects... each to his or her own... we need to respect everyone's likes.

Some adventure publishers are getting into the more profitable casual games genre.

This was done by Her Interactive (Nancy Drew); City Interactive (Chronicles of Mystery) and frogwares (Dracula-Holmes-Ariane).

Some of these publishers do label the games honestly to not mislead gamers but some don't which results in some confusion.

frogwares have now established a different subsidiary (Waterlily) for their casual games release.

We can only check the advertisement stated by the game blurb to learn if it is casual or straight adventure.

Big Fish does give a good description of the game so you do know what genre the game is.

HerInteractive doesn't seem to be continuing their "Nancy Drew Dossier" (their casual) series. The first Nancy Drew Dossier game came out in 2008 and the 2nd one in 2009, but there haven't been any since then. They ported Shadow Ranch to iPod and iPad in 2011 as the first in a new "Nancy Drew Mobile" series, but don't seem to be continuing with that either. I think they were just testing the waters. Their PC games seem to be what's doing best for them.

City Interactive seems to have given up on both PC adventures and casuals for PC. Their ***website*** only shows casual games for Nintendo DS, not PC. And no adventure games at all.

Only Frogwares seems to be successful at both PC adventures and casuals.

There are indeed lots of games that have hidden object scenes that are placed in the Adventure category of Big Fish, but not all of them do. If you are ever in doubt as to which ones have hidden object scenes and which do not, I would be glad to advise. wave

Marian, I'd be interested in the adventure games that don't have hidden objects, too. Do you have a list?

birthday Melia!

Generally, the "Large File Games" at Big Fish are adventures.
There are some "adventure lite" included - which are casual games.
Feel free to ask here or at casual forum if it so so the experts can verify.

Since all games released on BigFish are announced here, if you use the "lite" search feature the games that come up have no HOS.

I already have the Drawn series and really like them. I ended up getting Fatal Shot - no HOG. You know what's really a fun game is Royal Trouble. You might try that one.

I have Royal Trouble and I agree that it's a good one; thank you for the reminder, as it would be a nice one to include on that list. wave
