If you are trying to load the game on a XP or Vista computer try using XP/VISTA Installer by Jafa http://www.sierrahelp.com/Games/LighthouseHelp.html

I have not heard of a disappearing cursor problem before. What operating system are you using and which Installer, Dos or XP/Vista?

I am so excited that I finally got this game to run that I made a mis statement. My mouse will run but the cruser is too slow to move around the room. I found two items to put in inventory but for the life of me I can not move out of the room.

Winfrey, are you moving along any faster than I am?

I just downloaded the XP Installer, used it to install the game and it runs perfectly.

I might add that this game, as do all the Sierra classics, looks a lot better on a CRT monitor than an LCD. (Thanks Jenny100)

Excellent

Is your cursor moving normal now? Don't forget that after you start a new game you will get the option menu, at the bottom will give you a choice of highlighted cursor or not. Without it highlighting you will find that you will have to click on anything and everything. With the cursor highlighter the cursor will highlight when passing over an interactive zone.

I should mention that you can turn the Highlighted Cursor on or off at anytime in the game by using the Menu.

I am having good flash backs to the old days when I started, but didn't finish, this game. At the time it was dark and sccarey and I played with the lights off. GreyFuss I can't thank you enough.

Is your mouse/cursor movement better now?

Don't thank me...all the thanks should go to Jafa (squirt the cat) for making this and many other Sierra game Installers.

My mouse is fine it's like Winfrey said it takes time for all the inventory items to be placed before I could leave the room. You are right of course saying the thanks should go to Jafa and I for one am making a contribution to help the site continue.
