I don't get it. I thought this Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey was supposed to complete the game - April's and Zoe's stories(even though I never saw a connection between them). Now they're talking about 2 different games? I'm sure a lot of people thought that. But if you kept track of Ragnar Tornquist's posts on his blog and elsewhere, you'd have read that he didn't consider Dreamfall as a TLJ2 and that TLJ2 would be a different game. Dreamfall is another storyline (mostly following Zoe) in the same universe as TLJ. So it's nice to know that a TLJ2 is still being planned to be created at some time -- and even better that it's planned to be a 2D point-and-click in the spirit of the original. However it's annoying to be asked to contribute more in order to finance a real TLJ 2. The chances of meeting the 2 million mark are rather slim -- which means any additional amount you pay will probably go for Dreamfall 2 and not for the TLJ2 that you really want. If Red Thread looks at the number of pledges that were increased after announcing Longest Journey Home -- and there is a significant amount of them -- they might get an idea of the demand for it. Since it looks like one of the other games I made a pledge to isn't going to make it, I went ahead and upped my pledge, but I still think Ragnar is taking advantage of people who want a TLJ2 instead of a Dreamfall 2.

He specified that the 2 million goal will only give them the chance to do pre-production on TLJ 2 while Dreamfall 2 is being made, and TLJ 2 would go into production only after Dreamfall 2 is finished. I guess they mean that at that point they don't need more money for Dreamfall 2, hence any extra money will go into pre-production for TLJ 2. After that they will need finance for it, I think he said from the profits from Dreamfall 2, if they can (but I would not be surprised if another Kickstarter campaign is necessary). They don't know at this point. So at least 2 million will guarantee pre-production of TLJ 2, and from there we are more likely to get it made eventually. Note that the PayPal money has not been added yet to the full amount we see on Kickstarter, they have not said either how much more there is from PayPal. My guess is that they probably will tell us in the next few days to invite more pledges at the end. And the campaign will continue on PayPal after the Kickstarter campaign is finished. There is a chance the 2 million could be reached in the next few months: http://redthreadgames.com/blog/2/3/2013/for-pledgers-some-information-about-the-longest-journey-homeAs long as it is all clear from the start, I am fine. Now, they invite us to suggest what the $1,750,000 stretch goal should be about, and I think my suggestion may be a good one for here on Gameboomers where we appear to prefer the original TLJ. Well I do hope you agree it might be a good idea... this is my comment and post to them: For the $1,750,000 stretch goal, I suggest that any more content or crazy ideas for Dreamfall Chapters will become superfluous and no longer related to the pleasure of playing a wonderful adventure game. Therefore my suggestion is that all the money for that stretch goal, and beyond that point, goes toward not only doing pre-production on The Longest Journey Home (the 1.75 million stretch goal) but even start on the production (2 million stretch goal).
It was said it won't cost as much and won't take as long because it is 2D (a great decision), so there is a good chance that all that money might suffice to nearly finish it. Especially with all the PayPal money that will still be gathered after the Kickstarter campaign.
For many fans The Longest Journey Home is even more exciting than Dreamfall Chapters, although myself I love both equally. So I suggest more of the Kickstarter campaign money and beyond should go toward both adventures. What do you all think? They will announce tomorrow the suggestions for that stretch goal of $1,750,000 and invite people to vote. I predict they will reach the $1,500,000 goal, and I believe it is possible that in the next few months they could reach $1,750,000. But 2 million seems rather difficult. So I think we should help move the goal post of the pre-production for The Longest Journey Home closer to home.

Wow, I've missed a lot of discussion in the last few days. Like rmt said, it looks as though the extra money would go into the pre-production of TLJH, not fund an extra game. Personally, I'm glad Dreamfall Chapters will be first. While TLJ was my favorite as well, I loved Dreamfall almost as much. And it needs resolution far more than TLJ does at this point. Imagine waiting another several years to resolve that cliffhanger! Also, it looks as though Chapters will be much more of a traditional adventure game than Dreamfall was. No combat or stealth, which I'm very happy about. Of course I want TLJH as well, but I think it will happen either way regardless. It will just happen sooner if the Kickstarter makes it to 2 million. It's a shame it doesn't look as though it will, but we'll just have to hope that Chapters does well enough to fund it in the future. And I will certainly pledge to another Kickstarter in a couple of years, if it comes to that.

Rmt, no, unfortunately I don't get the Wonkers USB key. The tiers are kind of strange because the digital and physical versions are spread out, and I really, really want a nice box. The next version to include the USB key is the $350 one, and that is just too much for me to spend right now. The $110 box was only a slipcase cover, and now I will receive a nicer, signed box, a paperback copy of Journey's Birth, a paper Arcadia map and the expanded manual, which from what I understand includes more story information. Oh, and I'll also get another outfit and hairstyle for Zoe. Too bad they weren't included for everyone, but hey, at least I'll get them now. And I'll get my name in the credits and a signed postcard. If you do end up going for the $150 tier, you'll have to let us know how you like that Wonkers key. Even the $110 tier is nice. I could have stayed at that level, but I got caught up in the excitement. What tier are you on now? EDIT: Oh, I just realized the Wonkers USB isn't included in the $150 tier but the $200 tier. Sorry about that. Oh, well, I guess neither one of us will be getting Wonkers.

Rmt, sorry I didn't mean to put you in a box dilemma. The $110 is a DVD slipcase, pretty much the standard nowadays. The $250 is more like the original Dreamfall box, a double wide DVD case, probably to accommodate the Journey's Birth book inside. There are even better boxes at higher tiers, but I can't afford those. Here is the link with the different boxes: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/redthread/dreamfall-chapters-the-longest-journey/posts/403370.Personally, I think any physical copy is worth getting, especially considering how rare they're becoming. But even the digital copies are going to be DRM free, so whatever you decide, I think you'll be good.

Countdown to the end on TwitchTV!
Also, clear your schedule tomorrow and join us on TwitchTV for our live countdown broadcast!
We will be live from 0900 CET and onwards, and we're bringing some special guests to the 'studio'. Should be a fun time for all! It took me a while to transfer and understand all the different timings and I just realised the campaign tomorrow will end at 11:04 am London time. They go live on Twitch TV at 08:00 am London time (I think). Dear me, perhaps I should upgrade before going to bed (although I am not sure which tier to choose yet), I might not be able to wake up in time and I might miss the final! To make things more complicated, many countries change their time tomorrow to adjust for summer time!

For me, the Twitch TV stream starts at 4 am. I have to be at work at six. Luckily, I have a job where I start nice and early, so I get off early in the day and have the rest of it free. I'm not a morning person, but it's worth it. Still, I don't think I'll be getting up that early, especially with the time change. I suppose I may catch about twenty minutes or so before I have to go to work. Do you know if the stream will be saved to Twitch, as the Dreamfall playthrough was? I assume it will be. Rmt, if you do upgrade, let us know which tier you choose.

Final: $1,538,425 and 21,858 backers!
Plus the PayPal money apparently $34,000 (hope this is true, someone said so in the comments), so full total: $1,572,425!
We did it!
I just woke up, I was in a panic to up my pledge, I had 2 minutes to spare and I was pressing every button on my iPad, so I did not have the time think and now I am at the $75 tier. Money well spent... Now the longest wait begins.
