There's an Android port of AGS in development - haven't used it myself but in case you're interested, here's the thread - http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=44768.0

Wow I think I'm just going to start bringing my kids DS with me instead... doesn't look like there is much out there for Android. I was hoping there were more... well-known titles. Seems like Broken Sword is the only contender.

Thanks all.

(Maybe that way I will actually FINISH Professor Layton....)

You can legally purchase any of the old sierra or lucas arts games on GOG.com and then load them into Scumm for android. It works amazing! I just finished space quest 5 that way.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.scummvm.scummvm&hl=en

you'll need the sierra plugin to play sierra games.

I got an iPad a week ago. I wanted something to play games on away from my desktop computer. I was lured by a game called The Room, which I read a review on. I'm a true adventer gamer, I love Myst-like puzzles discovery games. While The Room is exactly that (a room), you get to explore puzzles boxes in 3D. It's like Safecracker, but with the ability to turn and manipulate objects. I haven't felt this sort of wonder since I first played Riven a long time ago.
Here's a list of games I'm looking into for my iPad.
Forever Lost
The Witness
Kairo (I was going to get this for my PC anyhow)
Infernus Verse
Flee
The Haunt 1 and 2
Tesla's Electric Mist

There are some good puzzle games too. I like the ability to use the mechanics of the iPad in the solve - tilting or shaking. It adds another twist to the puzzles. I'm playing 100 Floors right now and it really gets you thinking outside the box.
Between my Windows computer and my Ipad, I have more selection for the games I like to play than I've had in a long while.

rmt,

I agree. I just finished playing Broken Sword Shadow of The Templars: The Director's Cut and loved it on my Android tablet! Now I am playing Broken Sword II The Smoking Mirror. It is starting out to be really good too!

Try Yesterday by Bulkypix. Free version has ads but allows you to play full content. Paid version is $4.99 on Google Play. Smartphone screen is hard for many games in general, but do-able in most cases. I'll have to look through some listed in this thread and pick up the few I haven't played. laugh
