Conscience is a mother-in-law whose visit never ends.
H. L. Mencken (1880 - 1956)

Hey, did you hear about the...

Paper company that folded?

Brake company on the skids?

Bra manufacturers that went bust?

Surgeon who was forced to take a cut in his salary?

Cigarette company that went up in smoke?

Baker who was short of dough?

Refrigerator manufacturer that had it's assets frozen?

Corset firm that felt the squeeze?

Upholsterers that couldn't cover their costs?

Adhesive tape company that got into a sticky situation?

Tennis ball manufacturer that ended up in court?

Downfall of the bungee suppliers?

The train company that went off the rails?

The ship building company that sunk?

The dental practice that was rotten to it's roots?

Help Line Loser

"Word Perfect Technical Desk, may I help you?"

"Yes, well, I'm having trouble with Word Perfect."

"What sort of trouble?"

"Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away."

"Went away?"

"They disappeared."

"Hmm. So what does your screen look like now?"

"It's blank; it won't accept anything when I type."

"Are you still in Word Perfect, or did you get out?"

"How do I tell?"

"Can you see the C: prompt on the screen?"

"What's a sea-prompt?"

"Never mind. Can you move the cursor around on the screen?"

"There isn't any cursor: I told you, it won't accept anything I type!"

"Does your monitor have a power indicator?"

"What's a monitor?"

"It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV.

"Does it have a little light that tells you when it's on?"

"I don't know."

"Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that?"

"Yes, I think so."

"Great. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged into the wall."

".......Yes, it is."

"When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one?"

"Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable."

"Okay, here it is."

"Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the back of your computer."

"I can't reach."

"Uh huh. Well, can you see if it is?"

"Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over?"

"Oh, it's not because I don't have the right angle-it's because it's dark."

"Yes-the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window."

"Well, turn on the office light then."

"I can't."

"No? Why not?"

"Because there's a power outage."

"A power... A power outage? Aha, Okay, we've got it licked now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff your computer came in?"

"Well, yes, I keep them in the closet."

"Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from."

"Really? Is it that bad?"

"Yes, I'm afraid it is."

"Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them?"

"Tell them you're too stupid to own a computer."

Good morning everybody. wave

We have a dark rainy morning going on. I'd be excited if we got about 10" of rain, but I think we're only going to be allowed less than an inch on this visit of the Rainman. thumbsdown

I'll have more than that passing through me after I finish my third cup of coffee. snicker

Would anyone like a refill? Oops!! That didn't sound right. Sorry!! slapforehead

I hope everyone has a fantastic day. rah

Good morning boomies! I shut off my alarm and my backup alarm this morning. I decided to get a full 8 hours. yay

I will be running the dogs sometime today, they need it as much as I do. The rest of the day will be working.

Joe, how is mom feeling? I hope your evening goes fast!

Haroula, any fun weekend plans?

Sue, we keep getting a dusting of snow daily. I think since winter was so late, we are just shifting seasons. lol

Cathy, have a nice day.

Gerry, have a great day!

Venus, are you feeling better?

Gail, I hope your treatment goes well. Are these hard to tolerate or are you feeling okay? Big Hugs!
I am not out of the corner but I was given an extra couple days last night so I don't have to work around the clock. yay

Connie, is it warm by you yet? Can I come visit? I want to walk without being bundled up.

manxman, have a great day.

And yet another perfect weather day here. Off to get rubber gloves to pick up the 'remains' of a bird that one of the ferals left for me on my deck. How nice of them. Yukky!

Finally figured out why my hand was swollen. Was doing something yesterday and managed to pull a muscle just at the thumb/wrist joint and then remembered doing that (but worse) a day before the swelling. Aha! Swelling is going down, thumb area hurts but at least I know what it is. Also managed to pull a back him muscle this morning bending over to pick up a dropped Kleenex. So dumb. Now I have to find the ice pack and take some pain stuff so I can function until it decides to ease up. How easy it is to hurt yourself! Gonna wrap myself in bubble wrap and bounce around with no more ouchies.
WARNING! This person is extremely blonde...please type SLOWLY.
