A good collaborative effort from Sue and Rog; rage = height of fashion (as in "it's all the rage"), and one held responsible for that is a trendsetter (who therefore has many followers), alternatively frontrunner as alternatively clued and explained by Sue.
Denis, the original clue is a single definition, the wordplay being the unusual meaning of rage (used without "the"), as signalled by the question mark.
Over to you Rog ===[**WCF**]===

Since when is a "single definition" clue legal? Rubber stopper on icy surface?(6,6) = hockey goalie Legal? Ain't complaining; only saying if we don't know single definition is ok, then impossible to solve.

I didn't even look back at the first one. One held responsible for rage? (11) I don't think that's a cryptic. It's more of a crossword clue. Other opinions? Or should I just beat him and have done with it.
The moon is actually more useful than the sun since the moon gives us light at night when it's dark. The sun only gives us light during the day when it's already bright out.

Rubber stopper on icy surface?(6,6) = hockey goalie Legal? Yes, in my view, with the same qualification as Pandora mentions: not a cryptic but a valid crossword clue nevertheless (as long as there is a kink/quirk of some kind to provide a measure of obfuscation). As it says in our introductory spiel to this thread, anything from the worldwide crossword arena passes muster.

Train oil = a whale product (also known as whale oil) - trail (dog/follow) containing (swallowing) noi (number one). Not an expression with which I was familiar, but it had to be some sort of oil from whales.
