When playing games such as "tomb raider "or "broken sword" --movement is usually made by use of the keyboard arrows.- ~Will this still be possible with the new "touch screen" - or how will it work??? -- sorry to be naive -- Petjo

I have a couple of games made for touch on my Windows 8. Of course, I'm playing them normally with keyboard and mouse, but they have a little tutorial for moving around exactly like Jenny says.
This kind of navigation in a game will only be appropriate for casual games and maybe a few future adventure games. An action game like the Tomb Raider games would never work with touch.

An action game like the Tomb Raider games would never work with touch. Not that they don't make the attempt. Here's a review that criticizes the control scheme for Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light on iPad http://www.ign.com/articles/2010/12/18/lara-croft-the-guardian-of-light-ipad-review The reality is that not every game makes sense on an iPad, and this is one of them. It uses the dreaded onscreen control stick and button scheme -- a generally miserable attempt to get console games working on a touch screen that I wish developers would abandon altogether.

Oh, good grief. Guardian of Light was horrible to control on the PC because of the "control stick and button scheme." Idiots...

Thanks to you all for help. Can I assume that even if there is still a keyboard, it could not be used successfully for games such as "tomb raider"?? --Petjo

It would depend on what you're talking about, petjo. If you're talking about a tablet with a detachable keyboard or a laptop with an attached keyboard - both assuming a touch screen - you would be able to play the game normally with keyboard and mouse. However, that would assume you have a touch tablet or a touch screen laptop with enough hardware - processor, video card etc. - to play such games.
If you're talking about Windows 8 on a regular desktop - again with sufficient hardware - yes, you can play with mouse and keyboard. I am playing Tomb Raider Underworld on my Windows 8 right now.
