Me again. I've played this game. It worked. It worked on Windows 7. Now it won't even open!

I installed it, no problem. I accepted the DX9...or 8, whatever it wanted. I did not accept Adobe Reader, if that makes any difference. Anyway, good to go, it says. Right. It won't even open to let me put in the blasted very long DRM number.

What happens is this: Computer asks if I want to open this thingie from an unknown publisher and I say yes, I get a quick notice that the colors are being dialed back since they're not compatible with Win 7, a little image of the disc to which I saved it appears on my desktop, the screen goes black and holds black for a couple of seconds, then poof! I'm back on the desktop.

I even downloaded the files again from the Adventure Company on the chance that those I'd saved were corrupted. Nope.

I installed it in My Docs instead of in Program Files x86. No use.

I disabled everything disable-able under Properties, tried Program Compatibility and Run as Admin. Nothing helps.

So...what's that minor tweak that will get Nemesis to run on Windows 7? grin

Gil.

You may already have done this, but Frogwares recommends updating the TAGES drivers if you're having trouble playing the game on Windows 7
http://www.frogwares.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=16

There is a version of TAGES that download companies like Adventure Shop use. The TAGES update should work for both the CD and the download versions.

There may also be a problem with PhysX driver incompatibility, which they discuss here

Oh, fine. It isn't the TAGES. I have the latest version of that.

Which means it's the NVIDIA driver, I guess. Well, I'll keep that in mind but right now, I'm not messing with my drivers. I'm too apt to get myself in a mess. grin

Thank you, Jenny100. At least I know what's wrong!

Gil.

If I'm not mistaken, the game also required a specific version of PhysX. If you've installed a newer release (included in the NVidia driver package), you may want to uninstall it and use the version that shipped with the game.
