How strange can that be: our link to it in "World of Adventure" on top of this page and a link from Google does not work for me.

And Marian's link is OK.

It had been down the last few days. It came up as an entirely different website before.

Chief, those are cached links that likely do not work anymore. If you clear your cookies, it will work.

Mr 2 U,

Try this and it's weird:
type in justadventure.com - NO WWW.
If you add www to the above you get the other link.

Thanks for the tip Mag. I was having the same problem as Mr 2 U. I haven't visited the JA site for a long time, and when I went there just now I didn't recognize it - the format is completely different than it used to be. However, I found some interesting forum topics and I'll probably check it out more often now.

works for me at the moment. However it's been off and on for the past few days -- often getting a "not found" error for the forum page and a completely different website for the homepage.

I've seen sites that would only work with the www (or vice versa) but I think this is the first time you got one site without the www and a completely different one with. Seems like a DNS server got messed up somewhere.

Marian's link worked for me yesterday, but not now, and neither does Jenny100's.

Something bad happened to Just Adventure several years ago. I used to go there frequently, as it was a complete and functional site, with reviews and walk-thrus of several hundred games.

Due to a stolen computer and subsequent technical problems, I got out of the habit of visiting game sites, even though I continued to play.

After a hiatus of perhaps a year, I went back to Just Adventure and found the site to be completely trashed. It looked nothing like it did before, the format was entirely different, and the walk-thrus had entirely disappeared, and there were only a handful of reviews.

Searching around I found that Randy Slugansky, the site's creator had fallen seriously ill. Apparently the original site was then completely deleted, and the new one constructed. Why this was done, I cannot imagine as the old site was complete and well organized, with reviews, walk-thrus and upcoming games all alphabetacally arranged for easy access, etc.

I re-visited the site several days ago, and while a lot of stuff has been added, it's still disorganized, the reviews seem to be in random order, meaning you have to scroll through pages of titles in the hopes the game you are looking for is there. Also, there are apparently still no walk-thrus.

After this, I googled "Randy Slugansky" in hopes of solving the mystery of what happened to the site, and found that sadly, after a long illness, Slugansky had died.

So all I suppose is that someone else associated with Just Adventure decided to re-do the site. Too bad, because it's pretty useless now.

If anyone has any more info on all this, I'd love to know; I am sure a lot of former fans of the site would as well.

Antoinetta,

Randy sold JA while he was ill to TriSynergy.
TriSynergy did the "remodeling".

Thanks MaG for that info - it's now clear why the whole website was in my view rapidly & insensitively re-designed & not for the better!

A few days ago when I did an internet search for reviews of an older game,
one of the results was this site

When I clicked on it, it turned out to be the old Just Adventure website!

I think it's not being updated but, if you're interested in reading the
reviews and walkthroughs that were there before Randy sold it, they're
all there - arranged nice, neat, orderly, and alphabetical.

Jema, thanx a ton for the link; I've already bookmarked it.

MaG, thanx for the info. I hadn't heard that the site had been sold, and it was trashed so thoroughly when I first checked out the new edition that it seemed like a malicious sabotage.

I can see why Synergy would slap their own logo and stuff on the site, but why deliberately destroy it. When I first visited the new site, the walk-thrus and the long list of reviews were completely gone. There were perhaps half a dozen reviews; not reviews that were on the old site.

Now, there are a considerable number of reviews, but in random order, and the walk-thrus are still gone, at least I could't find any.

Why a company would purchase a site, then throw away major components and in general make it user unfriendly is a complete mystery to me.

You're welcome, Antoinetta and Mad. I hope you find it useful, or at
least interesting - maybe for its nostalgic value. smile
