I finished Arthur's Knights: Tales of Chivalry and decided to load up Alice. Still on the old XP and the game is running fine. Problem here is I can't make alice pull some levers.

I am just starting this game and am in Beyond the Wall...about 4 chapters in, I think. Alice has entered an area with one lever on the top area and three levers on the bottom level. There is a locked door across an expanse.

No matter where I stand Alice will not pull any of the levers. I have been to the door and it will not open.

The Mad Hatter's bust is on a pedestal but I can't get up to it. Don't know if it does anything.

I played this twice in the past but it's been so many years ago that it's like playing it for the first time.

Help?

Have you tried hitting the enter key when standing near the levers? wave

I've hit my 'enter' key until I wore off the letters laugh

Good to know that I'm hitting the correct key.

I've stood on all sides of all of the levers but nothing happens when I hit 'enter'. She won't put down her weapon, does that make a difference?

Burpee, from doing some forum reading: Are you in focus mode? Do you have target lock enabled?

Hi Looney, I tried a search too but didn't have much luck. Your eyesight is better than mine, lol.

I have that computer off at the moment, but I would say that I do not have target lock enabled. I had a dickens of a time getting past some flying demon because I couldn't hit him. I will check that when I fire up the computer again. I assume that is under options.

I don't know if that will work, but it was recommended by one forum. I can't find anything that will tell me exactly how to pull the levers other than the "stand near and hit enter."

I assume you moved her around pushing Enter just in case it's a pixel hunt type thing?

Yipes, I only found a 'target reticle' with an X and when I unchecked and hit 'apply' then tried to get out I lost control of my pointer and had to manually turn off the computer.

I eventually got the game to behave but she still won't respond to 'enter' when I'm near the levers. I have stood back, looked down, tried all sides, stood on top of the levers, jumped on the levers, looked up, all while hitting 'enter'.

I did rebind my keys but 'use' is still listed as 'enter'. Guess I won't be able to play this one on XP. I'll have to save it for the old W98.

I have 100 old games, some that I never even played that I can try on the XP first.

I'm going to get rid of these game as I play them, except for a few favorites that I just can't let go....like Zanzarah and Tomb Raider smile

I have Traitor's Gate 2, which I never played, and I'm not sure why I traded for it. I didn't even like Traitor's Gate 1.

Eeek Burpee, sounds like that wasn't a good solution. I wonder if it's a bug?

I'm looking for a patch. There is An Updater Patch here. I couldn't find a list of issues connected to that patch though.

Did you pull that lone lever up above to hear the 3 musical notes? That must be done to cue the cutscene and for the 3 lower levers to work. And if you fail to get the puzzle correct I believe you need to go up and pull the upper lever again.

Hope that this helps.

Ok, I am sending everyone wet noodles so they can lash me with them. I am SO silly....and I'm embarrassed to say because you all went out of your way to help me. Is there any help for the idiots in the crowd?

Ok, Marian and Looney, it was the 'enter', as you both mentioned. I was hitting it and hitting it but I was wrong about the rebinding of the keys. I changed 'climb up' to 'F'. That also happens to be 'use'. I had rechecked it but skipped right over it. I see what I want to see, not what's there. I'm SO sorry frown

I've played this game in both Windows 7 and Windows 8, so it's definitely not XP. Good to know you got it figured out!

Thanks Presto!

Burpee, I'm glad you got it. I have so done the exact same thing. No wet noodles for you. Just glad you are on your way again. wave
