The letters of the answer to the first part of the clue can be transposed to form the answer of the second half of the clue. If you find the first part of the clue is elusive then switch to the second part and work your way backwards wink

Example: transpose a garment into a tiresome person -> robe - bore

sherlock

= 1. Transpose a verbal composition into a gloomy disposition
= 2. Transpose a speck into a book
= 3. Transpose inert gas into nothing
= 4. Transpose completely obvious into an unskilled laborer
= 5. Transpose some dollars into a head part
= 6. Transpose a distinct sound into another distinct sound
= 7. Transpose a monthly payment into a bird
= 8. Transpose conveyed into a lair
= 9. Transpose recent events into stitched
= 10. Transpose gone into a salamander

penguin
