Life engenders life. Energy creates energy. It is by spending oneself that one becomes rich.
[info][add][mail][note]Sarah Bernhardt (1844 - 1923)

Once upon a time, there was an officer of the Royal Navy named Captain Bravado who showed no fear when facing his enemies. One day, while sailing the Seven Seas, his lookout spotted a pirate ship approaching, and the crew became frantic. Captain Bravado bellowed, "Bring me my red shirt!"

The first mate quickly retrieved the captain's red shirt, and while wearing the brightly colored frock, the Captain led his crew into battle and defeated the mighty pirates. That evening, all the men sat around on deck recounting the triumph of earlier. One of them asked the Captain, "Sir, why did you call for your red shirt before battle?"

The Captain replied, "If I were to be wounded in the attack, the shirt would not show my blood. Thus, you men would continue to fight, unafraid." All of the men sat and marveled at the courage of such a manly man's man. As dawn came the next morning, the lookout spotted not one, not two, but TEN pirate ships approaching. The crew stared in worshipful silence at the Captain and waited for his usual orders.

Captain Bravado gazed with steely eyes upon the vast armada arrayed against his ship, and without fear, turned and calmly shouted, "Get me my brown pants."

year that he was going to die. It was the right year too. Not
only that, but he knew what time he would die that day, and he

Fellow 1 : "A judge told him."

Dave and Bo went elk hunting every year. The forest was so thick that they had to hire a helicopter to take them in and out. At the hunt's end, Dave and Bo called up the helicopter to come and get them and the six elks they had shot.
On arrival, the helicopter pilot looked over the catch. "I can only carry half of your catch," he said. "Six elk would be too heavy for the helicopter."

"Last year the helicopter carried six elk," replied Dave. "And it was the same type of helicopter as yours and the weather conditions were exactly the same."

The pilot succumbed to persuasion and took aboard the hunters and their six elk. The helicopter could not gain height and skimmed along the tops of the trees for a mile or so, and then crashed. Fortunately no-one was hurt.
"Do you know where we are?" asked Bo.

"Yep," replied Dave, "about a hundred yards from where we crashed last year."

A customer at Green's Gourmet Grocery marveled at the proprietor's quick wit and intelligence.

"Tell me, Green, what makes you so smart?"

"I wouldn't share my secret with just anyone," Green replies, lowering his voice so the other shoppers won't hear. "But since you're a good and faithful customer, I'll let you in on it. Fish heads. You eat enough of them, you'll be positively brilliant."

"You sell them here?" the customer asks.

"Only $5 each," says Green.

The customer buys three. A week later, he's back in the store complaining that the fish heads were disgusting and he isn't any smarter.

"You didn't eat enough," says Green. The customer goes home with 20 more fish heads. Two weeks later, he's back and this time he's really angry.

"Hey, Green," he says, "You're selling me fish heads for $5 apiece when I can buy the whole fish for $3. You're ripping me off!"

"You see?" says Green. "You're smarter already."

A Bible study group was discussing the unforeseen possibility of their sudden death. The leader of the discussion said, " We will all die some day, and none of us really know when, but if we did we would all do a better job of preparing ourselves for that inevitable event."

"Everybody nodded their heads in agreement with this comment."

Then the leader said to the group, "What would you do if you knew you only had 4 weeks of life remaining before your death, and then the Great Judgment Day?"

A gentleman said, " I would go out into my community and minister the Gospel to those that have not yet accepted the Lord into their lives."

"Very good!" ,said the group leader, and all the group members agreed, that would be a very good thing to do.

One lady spoke up and said enthusiastically, "I would dedicate all of my remaining time to serving God, my family, my church, and my fellow man with a greater conviction."

"That's wonderful!" the group leader commented, and all the group members agreed, that would be a very good thing to do.

But one gentleman in the back finally spoke up loudly and said, "I would go to my mother-in-laws house for the 4 weeks."

Everyone was puzzled by this answer, and the group leader ask, "Why your mother-in-laws home?"

Then the gentleman smiled sarcastically and said, "Because, that would be the longest 4 weeks of my life!"

A husband stepped on one of those penny scales that tell you your fortune and weight and dropped in a coin.

"Listen to this," he said to his wife, showing her a small, white card. "It says I'm energetic, bright, resourceful and a great lover."

"Yeah," his wife nodded, "and it has your weight wrong, too."

One day at a busy airport, the passengers on a commercial airliner are seated waiting for the pilot to show up so they can get under way.

The pilot and copilot finally appear in the rear of the plane and begin walking up to the cockpit through the center aisle. Both appear to be blind; the pilot is using a white cane, bumping into passengers right and left as he stumbles down the aisle. The copilot is using a guide dog. Both have their eyes covered with sunglasses.

At first, the passengers do not react thinking that it must be some sort of practical joke. After a few minutes though, the engines start revving, and the airplane begins moving down the runway.

The passengers look at each other with some uneasiness. They start whispering among themselves and look desperately to the stewardesses for reassurance.

Yet, the plane starts accelerating rapidly, and people begin panicking. Some passengers are praying, and as the plane gets closer and closer to the end of the runway, the voices are becoming more and more hysterical.

When the plane has less than twenty feet of runway left, there is a sudden change in the pitch of the shouts as everyone screams at once. At the very last moment, the plane lifts off and is airborne.

Up in the cockpit, the copilot breathes a sigh of relief and tells the pilot: "You know, one of these days the passengers aren't going to scream, and we aren't going to know when to take off!"

During the Super Bowl, there was another football game of note between the big animals and the little animals. The big animals were crushing little animals and at half-time, the coach made a passionate speech to rally the little animals.

At the start of the second half the big animals had the ball. The first play, the elephant got stopped for no gain. The second play, the rhino was stopped for no gain. On third down, the hippo was thrown for a 5 yard loss.

The defense huddled around the coach and he asked excitedly, "Who stopped the elephant?"

"I did," said the centipede.

"Who stopped the rhino?"

"Uh, that was me too," said the centipede.

"And how about the hippo? Who hit him for a 5 yard loss?"

"Well, that was me as well," said the centipede.

"So where were you during the first half?" demanded the coach.

"Well," said the centipede, "I was having my ankles taped."

Joe, thanks for the chuckles!

Well, the day has arrived and it will be a long and wonderful one. Right now I am sporting a fat lip which sprouted up at the BBQ. I either got bit or had an allergic reaction, either way it came up quick and doesn't seem to go away. lol

After all the food I have eaten in the last two days it will take me weeks to get back in shape. grin

I will catch you all at some point through the day. hearts

Midgie, I hope you feel better today.

Good morning Boomies

You all have a happy Sunday! Busy day here: clearing the show, visiting a friend in hospital, cutting my hair (hubby will do that) and doing bookkeeping with/for my Mum. And everything with a still pounding head. Never mind. Next Thursday we will drive to Italy again and then it's "dolce far niente" for a while....

Super Sunday ya'll puppy

Hubby and I got out early, but not bright, this morning so it was much more pleasant out there. We did our 4 miles and then home to our normal routine of smoothies, breakfast, feeding dogs, feeding us, cooking oatmeal for next week, swapping and folding laundry, putting dinner on, and oh yeah, there was a shower in there. Now I'm sitting and sipping and surfing and letting my back relax.

I'm not sure what I'll do today, but I'm thinking there will be some reading in there. Finished reading the first book in the Night Angel triology by Brent Weeks last night. Now I have some other books to finish up while I wait for the 2nd book to become available at the library. I'd love to just click and buy it, but as I love to read and I read fairly fast, that could be a very expensive habit. I'm glad the library has it happydance

Joe, thanks for opening for us wave

Ana, have a most wonderful day! Have fun, dance, eat, and give Sam a hug from us!

MaG wave

Space, what is fun in your life today?

Connie, that is a nice spread in the corner.

Gail, how are you feeling these days?

Nan, hope you guys can get out for a dry walk soon.

Ana, have a not too busy or hectic day! I'm sending some 'everything goes right, everyone is happy and calm' thoughts for you all.

In other news: Fireworks AGAIN last night from an unexpected source. Oh dear. It was my NICE neighbors across the street. The quiet ones who moved in less than a year ago and are so nice and happy and thoughtful.

Well for a month or so I have been hearing 'pops' from that direction and thought it was that pesky tow yard behind this house doing some spot welding late at night OR those horrible little boys setting off some small bang caps.

I was wrong! After I chatted with nice neighbor when all that happened (I had seen him and his girls in the back yard DURING some of the bangs, he said he didn't know where the sound was coming from and I believed him. No more!!

Last night nice neighbor had a small party, maybe 4 or 5 cars, very subdued until I guess everyone got happy drunk and started cheering and who knows what was going on. THEN I started hearing those little pesky bangs going off. KNEW it was coming from around his fire pit since each one produced a cheer.

THEN a HUGE scary BOOM! It was them. I was right at the door watching and scared me half to death. Probably what we call around here a 'M80', sorta like 1/3 stick of dynamite. Loads of cheers, laughing, cheering for "One more for Louie". Louie is the neighbor hosting the party.

Well, I didn't call them, but in less than 3 minutes, 2 police cars with lights flashing all over came in from both sides, 3 guys jumped out, went directly to the fenced in back yard (it fronts on my street) and shined flashlights over the fence. They knew exactly where they were going.

Louie comes out to greet them, says something about 'yeah, little firecrackers, I'll tell them, sorry for the trouble, etc." The police get in cars and one says "Yeah, and she isn't even a tenant there'. I'm guessing Louie blamed the Boom on a party goer as if he didn't know. Ha. Then after the police left, they continued to set off the small pop crackers! Must have been really drunk to chance that.

Now I will NEVER trust him again fully. He lied to me about something simple, he lied to the police, and now I find out he also lied directly to my other neighbor about why he was around all day every day for the past 3-4 months. He said he was on 'take your vacations days or lose them leave'. I know how that works. BUT now it turns out he was laid off way back then and maybe was embarrassed or something but for a guy who purports to be so honest and trustworthy (we had some discussions when I first met him) he's not so upstanding now.

Poor guy, feel bad that he has to lie about little stuff and cover up for losing a job, but it's his life until it affects the neighborhood with scary fireworks which could cause fires in our oh so dry dead lawns and palm tree leaves.

THEN as if that wasn't fun enough for the full moon, the kids who live in the tow yard and across the street (about 6 of them in a pack) were around all day terrorizing the pedestrians and cars by riding skateboards, scooters, and bikes in and out of traffic and on the sidewalk, came out after the police left and set off a roman candle right at the corner of the empty house. It shot about 20 times into the air and sparks went all over. As this was happening, the neighbor, who already had the police there and his party guests cheered the kids on. Duh?

This time I called the police after it looked like they were going to do a second one. Police arrived quickly, maybe chatted with the kids and parents (they were also outside drinking) and hopefully this will all stop.

Can hardly wait for the 4th of July big neighborhood display. I'm probably going to call or go directly to fire department, alert them that this happens every year (same kids and probably now my nice neighbor) and ask if they can have someone standing by to catch them. I'm so tired of the noise and fire danger.

Full moon, go away, I've done my part!

Good Morning Boomers!! A warmish, almost 60*, misty day here in the NW. Very quiet too. Hope to do a bit of gaming today. I need to stop resisting and take my pc in to my tech guy. I am running out of room with two OS's on a partitioned hard drive. I have a new one that is two terabytes. If I run out of room on that please shoot me, lol. I have some exciting software for my camera that I am eager to try out plus a new printer and no more room!!!! Enough ranting....tis my own fault...this week, maybe.... Off I go. Happy Gaming everyone!!! wave

Sorta, come live in my uhhh sparse settlement, ya' hear!!! No noise, all trees why one can taste the O2 and early in the AM you can hear the first bird. Take care -that guy's a liar and maybe he doesn't even know it. He might do other bad things, who knows.

Guess wot......I bet I can kneed bread again. Mr Art was jealous and didn't let me do that but things are looking and feeling better all the time. Some of that frozen bread that has to be baked is pretty good though. And easy.

Metro last light -ordered from Amazon- arrived 2 days ago and that makes about 3 dozen games in the to be played ASAP pile. If I bought that new X box I could order more even. Well, I'll get the PS4 when it's out. Let's hope the bugs are tweeked out befor it's on market.

Hothothot, summer's here. Did anybody see the moon last night -it's in perigee tonight. Last night it was more bright than large and it lit up the whole side of the house.

Stay cool
