As suggested by L4L I'm going to start a new thread. After finishing ME1 and playing most of ME2 I'm wondering about whether it would be worth looking into Mass Effect 3.

I've been reading and getting mixed reactions to ME3 so thought I'd ask to see if any Boomers have played the entire series.

There are those who really have negative things to say about ME3 and those who really like it. The most negative comments I've read are about the ending and, although one may not like an ending, I can't see that being a reason to dis the whole game.

Anyway if any on you have played the entire series I'd like any thoughts, pro or con, you may have.

If I get ME3 I have to go with Origin as Steam is not carrying it. Not a deciding factor as I have accounts with both.

You should play no matter, what others think of it.
It's the ultimate ending to a wonderful series smile

So go ahead and dig into the characters once again.

If you do get Mass Effect 3, be sure to download the Extended Cut. (from Origin, I think? or maybe the Bioware forums? The Extended Cut changes the ending a bit (or quite a bit as far I've heard). And it does make the ending more reasonable....

Thanks for the input folks. Guess I'll go ahead and take the plunge. I do like the series so far just wish they hadn't changed so much in ME2 (No inventory and no map to be specific) however, I'm pretty much used to it by now.

Looking forward to ME3 once I complete ME2.

Thanks again for the advice.

And please do not forget the different dlcs to Mass Effect 3, I think there are 2 or 3 dlcs you can buy. If do get the digital deluxe version one of these dlcs is included in the game.

And if you dislike the different endings, there's always the happy ending mod.

oldman,

I played the three games and more than once too as different characters. You can import your characater from ME2 to ME3. Is is good to make sure you have got the best ending of ME2 into ME3 because what happens to your friends depends on that. Alternatively you can tweak the stats, unless you are very reluctant to cheat a bit, with This Editor , with it once you start ME3 and save as soon as you are allowed, you can open the saved game with the Editor. Once the saved game is opened you can tweak it changing things that happened to your character in previous games, particularly ME2. If done properly this gives the best start for ME3.

If you didn't get a very good ending in ME2 (every member is alive an loyal) and are playing as a soldier or infiltrator I should be able to pass you a good start for ME3 in case you don't want to tweak it yourself or if you have problems with the editor I can tweak it for you if you send me a very early saved game for ME3.

I may have a good start for adept too.

Smiley456, thanks for the happy ending, I got the best ending but not happy, I will use the mod to have a deserved ending. penguin thanks

I answered your email, let me know if you have got it. If you decide on a DLC, in my opinion From Ashes is worth it, one gets Javick as a team mate and particle rifle, I used him a lot particularly against fast enemies.

Equip Javic with this weapon and incendiary ammo and kill everything on sight devil

Awful as a RPG. Mediocre as a stand-alone sci-fi action game. Bad as a Mass Effect game.

Repetitive, fetch-quests, overall bad writing, an awful ending...there are many problems with it. The ending is definitely not the only thing wrong with the game.

Well I've run into a game stopper for me. I'm on the mission where I'm supposed to beat the Reaper on Rannoch and I'm supposed to dodge the Reaper and target him and it is not a thing I am able to do at all.

I've read all the tips on it and viewed the You tube videos on beating the Reaper but it is beyond the capabilities of my feeble fingers.

If no one knows of a cheat to get past this sequence then I guess I'll just have to do all the other quests possible and then dock my space ship cause every time I try to aim I die.

Eeeeek, I hate that. Is there a God mode?

edit: Wiki has tons of tweaks including a God mode.

I don't tweak my games so can't tell you what might happen, but if you aren't going to be able to play otherwise, it's an option.

Unfortunately God Mode doesn't work on this particular battle. I've checked and there doesn't seem to be any cheat workaround either. All the other boards say how simple it is (easy for them to say).

Oh well (sigh) it's just too much for me. hardwall

Hi Oldman smile

In the menu screen you can choose between three different game modes e.g. story mode and combat one and a third one I've forgotten about.

Storymode is the one that lets you experience the story, and you can get by with a only minimum of combat. In the ME3 demo I played a long time ago, I found that it worked well to crawl or hide and use grenades and suich things.

Have you tried turning the difficulty down also?

And you do remember you have sqad/team members as well? Just set them do what what they automaticcally...

Also, did you enable the console?

Hi, Oldman

Have you tried the tips here?

http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/PC_Tweaks_%28Mass_Effect_3%29

You need a hex editor, which will allow you to tweak the dev console.

I forgot to mention this part in my post, yet another example of the truly awful design of this game. This type of sequence has nothing to do in what titles itself RPG.

I have read all of the tweaks etc but when they mention hex editor my mind whirls. It is a little above my pay grade.

I was kind of looking for a simple cheat that would let you bypass a particular quest and show it complete so you could continue in the game but so far no luck.

Thanks though for all the helpful comments.

I always play on the easiest mode possible but this quest has Shepard doing it solo and he dies even in God Mode.

Would someone's game save help? Or is this too much of an RPG game to make that work? I've never played any of the Mass Effect series.

EDIT: What about that game save editor that mcc mentioned? Can you mark a quest as completed with it?

If I could find a save game somewhere I would be happy to use it just to get beyond this deadlock for me. I wouldn't care what the Shepard character was or looked like if it would get me past this finger twitching area. It is very good suggestion but I've searched and can't find any save games.

The editor I tried and it doesn't seem to have an option to mark a quest as completed.

I appear to be right now up the proverbial creek without the proverbial paddle.

Bet thanks all for the suggestions.
