I think that varies widely from bank to bank.

You are asking how much the spends to maintain an account not how much they charge us, right?

Last I heard it was around $200.00 to $350.00 per year per account.

Really $200 to $300 per year.

Sorry if I was unclear.

I was curious how much it costs the bank to maintain a simple personal checking account for an individual.

My bank recently increased it's checking fee from $36 to $60 a year.

I just wanted to make sure I answered you correctly. Salaries are high, so it wouldn't surprise me.

I found the same thing Inland did by entering a Google search.

Ah, my bank charges me Zero if I have my paycheck direct deposited. Great for me. Maybe you can find a similar deal.

We use a credit union and we are senior citizens so it depends on a variety of requirements - we have to maintain a savings account of at least $1 - and have used 'direct deposit' for our SS and retirement incomes since the option was made available to us years ago - I cannot see us ever having to pay for our checking account or checks (also provided free of charge). Good luck
Love, Betty Lou
